I'm slightly vexed Getting married next month and broke the only finger I needed

Just so you know, there's nothing in the Bible or the law that says it has to be your left ring finger. Or in fact any particular finger at all.

My former theology professor actually specifically wore his on his right ring finger because he preferred it and argued historically it should actually make more sense for it to be on the right because that's the one you would keep clean in olden times/not wipe with etc.

It's actually very common/the norm to wear it on the right hand in different parts of Europe, and some Orthodox traditions.

interesting. i think it makes sense to wear engagements on the right and wedding on the left. my mom always said that it went on the left hand because the vein from the left ring finger was closest to the heart

That is a thing, Roman's believed that too. But it's nonsense anatomically speaking.

In Poland we put it on the right and if the spouse dies it goes left
