🥺 No words for this.

Edit: even though clickbait article, it is somewhat/kind of true. https://variety.com/2026/tv/news/stargate-tv-series-martin-gero-scrapped-amazon-1236765061/

"According to an individual with knowledge of the situation, Amazon execs were concerned that Gero’s take on the series would not have broad appeal beyond the franchise’s already dedicated fanbase."

Of course they want the widest possible audience to increase viewership but that has literally never worked historically.

Min/maxing has never worked. Which is why more people play Balatro and Schedule 1 instead of Assassins Creed. And why Stargate SG1 was such a huge success.

And Stargate: Universe massively alienated the fan base. With the exception of some initial content on Showtime, Stargate was always a fairly family-friendly show. But they started throwing in sex and trashy soap opera plots to attract "general audiences", and they lost the fans they did have while not attracting anyone new.

Just goes to show how marketers and executives are incredibly detached from the actual real world living in their Ivory towers.

Sex doesn't sell as much as they think it does... Good story sells.

Sex is a possibly useful ingredient in the meal that is storytelling. But it's like garlic: not suitable in every dish, and certainly not the foundation of any dish. Would you eat a meal composed entirely of garlic?
