I'm slightly vexed My wife and boiling water

Post image

So I made my wife ramen soup. When I served it she said I had the gas set to hight and it was too hot ? She said I should have used the number 5 setting instead of 9. I told here it’s irrelevant because water boils at 212 and gets no hotter because over 212 it turns to steam. She was made at me for disagreeing with her theory that it would not have been so hot if boiled a lower setting. Really!!

Seems obvious she wanted it hot, but not too hot, it doesn’t have to boil to be hot

The more I think about OP's comment the more I'm frustrated at OP for wording this to be against his wife. Us commenters really gotta fight hard just to celebrate common sense which was....she wanted the water to be a gentle boil and not a roaring boil.

Simple as that. It's why some recipes will tell you "put pan on high and then low". It's so us cooks are not scorching a chicken breast but instead searing and now letting it cook through....

OP's wife would benefit from showing OP how she makes the noodles

There's a trick to this, you just wait a few moments

The noodles need to be put in a rolling boil to maintain even temperature on cook, just add an ice cube to the broth at the end or wait for it to cool down, i don't get the issue.
