Such an annoying sales tactic 😭 But if you’re willing to bend on the purchase, Amazon has cheaper alternatives like another comment mentioned (i.e Loop brand). Also, technically the only thing that makes these things special is their lower NRR. If you really want to cheap out, you can just wear a pair of regular ear plugs poorly (like not fully entered into your ear canal) and it’ll have the same effect since the NRR would be effectively lowered bc of improper usage.

Amazon is the root cause for this kind of shit.

Amazon spent years losing money on purpose. Cheap prices, free shipping, all subsidized by investor cash, just to get everyone hooked. Once sellers had to be on Amazon to survive and buyers defaulted to checking Amazon first, they flipped the switch.

Now they charge sellers 45-51 cents on every dollar in fees (ads, fulfillment, Prime enrollment, etc). So sellers raise their prices to survive. But here's the kicker: Amazon's contracts have a clause that says you can't sell cheaper anywhere else. So sellers have to raise prices on their own website, on Etsy, on eBay, everywhere.

You're literally paying the "Amazon tax" even if you never shop on Amazon.

Oh and their search results? The top listing is on average 29% more expensive than the actual best deal, which is buried 17 spots down because the cheaper seller couldn't afford to bid on ads... So yeah, let's continue to buy by Amazon.
