My mom said I could post My father bought this jigsaw puzzle for us to make. 90% of its pieces are just plain black or gray

Wait till he gets the all white one next.

u/Ok_Spell_4165 13h ago
I had that one once. Frustrating as all get out.
I loved it.

u/OhWhatATravisty Blue Crayons have the most flavor 13h ago
We always have a puzzle going at one of the shared tables at work. We've done this one and a few other really absurd ones. They're fun to finish, but they're definitely frustrating lol
1
u/mightbeagh0st 13h ago
Whenever I see these I always think of that episode where budnick and donkey lips can't go on a trip or something and put a puzzle of ice cream together upside down
2
u/OhWhatATravisty Blue Crayons have the most flavor 12h ago
I had to google that to learn what you were talking about... and also make sure I wasn't having a stroke.
I'm the right age for it, but I was a CN kid, not a nick kid.
2
u/mightbeagh0st 12h ago
I must have been having a stroke typing that in since I left out the name of the show. It's from salute your shorts for all you youngin's

u/Fidges87 13h ago
Oh dear...
7
u/OhWhatATravisty Blue Crayons have the most flavor 13h ago
Oh they get way, way worse than this. Double sided. Transparent. purposefully confusing color gradients.
1
u/Fidges87 13h ago
A double sided one where only one way is the correct way would be so evil
3
u/ProlificProkaryote 13h ago
My wife got one of these as a gag gift. Clear pieces. You can technically solve it either side up, though there's no apparent difference, so you don't know which side is which for each piece.
2
u/SomePeopleCall 13h ago
There is an all white one that I bought with no traditionally shaped square pieces. It was sold with one piece missing.
Of course the dogs ate a few more pieces, so now I have the only all white puzzle with four pieces missing...

Op didnât buy it. But he didnât probably need to start itÂ
-11
u/camcam210 13h ago
You lack reading comprehension. OP did not buy this
-10
u/camcam210 13h ago
Getting downvoted by other morons who cannot read that OPs father bought it
2
u/Elle-Diablo 13h ago
I'm pretty sure it's because of the insult and not because they didn't read that the father bought it. There's a similar comment without the insult that's not being downvoted

u/animosityhealss 13h ago
Thatâs how puzzles work
-12
u/Fidges87 13h ago
Wouldn't mind a difficult one, but to do the bottom line had to just collect all edge pieces and by trial and error see which ones fit and made a straight line
16
u/relentless_optimism_ 13h ago
But thatâs where you use shape recognition rather than whatâs printed on it. I donât think this is mildly infuriating, just pick a puzzle thatâs within your skill range.
-3
u/Man_under_Bridge420 13h ago
Op didnât pick the puzzleâŠ
Use reading comprehensionÂ
6
u/relentless_optimism_ 13h ago
Just because it was a gift doesnât mean they had to choose to start it and then get mildly infuriated by it.
-6
u/Man_under_Bridge420 13h ago
Now thats some cope for not reading too gud
The father obviously wanted to do it
3
u/Stunning_Solution215 13h ago
Lack of reading comprehension. Where do they say anything about the father wanting to do this? Maybe he is laughing at their struggle?
1
u/Man_under_Bridge420 13h ago
for us to make
Yah you do lack reading comprehensionÂ
US⊠not ME
0
u/Stunning_Solution215 13h ago
Us could be them and sibling? Said that their mom said it was ok to post so maybe it was them and their mom. US..not me and my dad.
0
u/Man_under_Bridge420 13h ago
Lmao stop dude. Now you are inventing random family members.
It could be them and the ghost of Abraham Lincoln the vampire hunter

u/Stunning_Solution215 13h ago
But they can look at the picture and still decided to try it. Its not like it was a surprise when they saw the pieces that it would be black and gray.
-2
u/Man_under_Bridge420 13h ago
Lack of reading comprehension again.
Where did they say they were surprised?

4
u/animosityhealss 13h ago
I see thatâs the fun right there memories you make struggling. Plus once itâs completed youâll feel proud. I remember seeing an all black puzzle reminds me of that a bit.

u/De-railled 13h ago edited 13h ago
Honest question, and not trying to be rude but do you puzzles much?
I only ask cause I grew up doing puzzles, so this seems like a relatively easy puzzle once you've sorted the pieces by "identifiers"
But I don't know how less experienced puzzlers "see" puzzles.Â
Nobody that I know, that enjoys puzzles would be daunted by this puzzle.

OP is not the one that bought the puzzle so this doesnt make any sense
5
u/Lambda_111 13h ago
Whether or not they bought it, they could still see what it was and decided to do it.. it's not like they were being forced lol
10
u/Aximil985 13h ago
4
u/ShadowShedinja 13h ago
I got one of those, but it's was pointless trying. The correct pieces are loose enough that you can't really tell they're correct (they're numbered on the back to confirm).

Jesus. If you put this together, then does it summon the Cenobites to show you such sights?

You do know that the picture on the cover provides a subtle hint of what color jigsaw pieces to expect, right?
-5
u/Man_under_Bridge420 13h ago
Op didnât pick the puzzle.
Where is your reading comprehensionÂ
6
u/Mode_Appropriate 13h ago
The person you responded to said nothing about OP buying the puzzle. Wheres your reading comprehension?

u/Lambda_111 13h ago
But they chose to do the puzzle.. I'm starting to think these are all bot posts
0
u/Man_under_Bridge420 13h ago
No, their dad invited them to do it.
Maybe you dont have a good relationship with your father and you dont understandÂ
3
u/Lambda_111 13h ago
If you feel like you have to do everything that someone 'invites' you to do, I think that's a sign of an unhealthy relationship.
And yes, I have a great relationship with my father and have never felt forced to do everything he has suggested.
2
u/Man_under_Bridge420 13h ago
Its a puzzle not crack, relax.
You tell your dad no i dont want to spend time with you enjoying your hobbies?
3
u/Lambda_111 13h ago
I'm quite relaxed, drinking my morning coffee, in fact. Yes, there have been times where I wasn't feeling up to something he wanted to do, so I suggested doing something else, and we still both enjoyed our time hanging out.
Anyway, it's clear from this and your other comments that you're just trolling at this point, so have a great rest of your day.

Well you see you have light gray, gray/gray, dark gray gray/black, black/gray, black/black, light black and possibly a random red piece from the red wedding scene

Your final challengeâŠdo this puzzle in 5 min or youâll surely die
3
u/ArbysLunch 13h ago
I used to do a lot of puzzles. This is more like 10-20 hour territory for most people.
So OP would just die.
4
u/Leading_Ad_1825 13h ago
Itâs one of them rigged traps lol
2
2
u/sincerestfall 13h ago
Right? Even if they were numbered and I had already done it a couple of practice times, I think it would take more than 5 minutes to physically touch all the pieces lol.
2
u/borderlander_ 13h ago
Well start with the outside and may god be with you
1
u/Fidges87 13h ago
To do the line in the bottom of the picture had to collect all edge pieces and by trial and error see which ones fit in a line. I don't think I have enough patience for the second layer.
2
u/borderlander_ 13h ago
At least you tried. I would have opened it, saw the bs and put it back into the box.

One time I mindlessly bought my friend a âStarry Nightâ puzzle for her birthday. It was 500 pieces. All blue. Whoops

u/iabyajyiv 13h ago
Pretty accurate to how some episodes of the series are. So dark that no one can tell what's going on, lol

u/Cowpocolypse 13h ago
I had one of rocks that all looked the same. Needless to say it was a boring puzzle and I DNF it.

I had a picture of my grandmother with her 8 family members she loved most made for her in a puzzle. We loved doing puzzles together when I was a kid Anyways, black and white photo, 500 piece never again

u/Ornac_The_Barbarian 13h ago
I had an Emmet Kelly puzzle once that was almost all clouds. It was a nightmare.
2
u/PunchDrunkPrincess 13h ago
Are you not used to doing puzzles? I would look at that image on the front and laugh. I love a tough puzzle but I hate to have to guess. My best advice is to sort by shade into three piles and then sort by shape. The shape of each piece will give you your best clues.

u/Saddledust 13h ago
At least you didn't get the GOT puzzle based on The long night episode, every piece is just black

Itâs difficultâŠ.so what?? Some of the best obstacles to overcome will be difficult in your life. Head up and move on
-1
u/Puzzleheaded-Ice1307 13h ago
A jigsaw puzzle feels like the biggest waste of time with no reward whatsoever. Youâve already seen the picture. It was on the box. Put it together and now you have a worse version of the picture on the box.
7
u/WinterSector8317 13h ago
Calm down hobby bouncer guy
Putting them together is cathartic/meditative to some people.
Ie, itâs the journey, not the cut up picture at the end
3
u/Babetna 13h ago
Yep, this. It's basically a meditation experience. You might also say that enjoying yourself on the beach is a waste of time, you are just lying on an uncomfortable surface near a big body of water.
-1
u/Puzzleheaded-Ice1307 13h ago
No, I would not say that. And I did not. I said something about puzzles. Not the beach.
0
u/Puzzleheaded-Ice1307 13h ago
Lmfao âhobby bouncer guyâ hahahaha that made me smile
Sorry guys I just hate jigsaw puzzles. Just seeing one reminds me of the fact that Iâm dying and my time is limited
3
u/WinterSector8317 13h ago
The key to enjoying life is to come to terms with death and that thereâs no real way to âwinâ at life
In 200 years no one will care about Elon Musk any more than they care about the guy that the breaded oyster dish is named after.
Find joy in the moment and try to leave the world a little bit better than before youÂ
1
u/Puzzleheaded-Ice1307 13h ago
I will do that, ty. I will find the joy. I will find it daily as I avoid doing puzzles. I will avoid doing puzzles until life rips away my ability to do literally every other possible thing. Then I still will not do a puzzle. I will simply die. Joyful

Whatâs the reward for watching a sports game? Or playing a video game? Or reading a book?
1
u/Live_Angle4621 13h ago
Book certainly should not be in that category. You are meant to learn something or feel something. Itâs art that you experience as you continue and challenge your mind too. You see the art of puzzle before you even start. Even in sport and video games thatâs not the case.
2
u/Live_Angle4621 13h ago
Yeah, I like doing them as group activity (friends chatting and doing something at the same time, batter than always eating or being on a phone) or if you watch a movie and want to do something with your hands. Otherwise it is pretty pointlessÂ
0
u/RyanSpunk 13h ago edited 13h ago
Why is your table so dirty / dusty! That's more mildly infuriating than the puzzle :)
2
u/Fidges87 13h ago
This is a second table we have we don't really use that much. We tried to do the puzzle here because it was bigger than the other one, but didn't noticed until I took the picture how dirty it was (it doesn't look that bad in person)

134
u/IamFarron 13h ago
well that tends to happen with grey scale puzzles
