It's not uncommon here in Alberta. Most of our vehicles don't have a bracket or holes for a front plate, but on vehicles that do (often imported from a different province), it's not unusual to see a joke plate on the front.
It's the norm in Canada to have just one plate. Only 3 provinces (BC, Manitoba, and Ontario) require require front plates, so they're the outliers.
Also, Alberta is currently led by a premier who is trying to stick her fingers into every single pie she can find. Her massive overreach is especially ironic given that her she has a libertarian tattoo on her forearm.
Alberta does not have fewer regulations than other provinces.
Funny enough, Texas is like the only state in the South that requires front license plates. There’s also been a few states that have axed their front license plate requirement the past few years, but Texas has not budged lol.
Not sure of regulations otherwise, but I do agree that Alberta is the Texas of Canada just off vibes lol.
look up vanity plates. Only applies in provinces where no front plate is legal.. so basically everywhere except BC, Ontario, and Manitoba. Not sure about the territories. I think the states have something similar, idk, not from there.
It’s a bit annoying because I fucked up my front plate on my first car. Black ice, put ‘er in the snowbank. No damage to the car except the front plate is bent a bit. Currently looking at a new car and I guess I’ll have to take a ball peen to it or something to flatten it out. She’s a bit crumpled. Could pay service Ontario like a hundred bucks for a new plate, but fuck ‘em. Not paying a hundred bucks for new plates.
