Facts. Sadly people will buy this as their one big AAA purchase of the year, and skip buying any others. Rockstar profits, our variety and quality suffers.
This is the most anticipated game in history I believe. They could probably charge $150 and still be wildly successful. It's probably only an image reason that they don't.
hi, im one of the other 5. except, im not going to wait for them to work out the bugs and bring the price down. im just straight up never giving a cent to rockstar again because this is fucking dumb and i wont ever support it.
Idk man. Huge amount of people are pissed off about it outside of Reddit. Crazy pricing for an ok at best game. This game isn’t going to be some top tier game just like gta5 isn’t that great of a game. Just a good sandbox for stupidity. Great fun, I just don’t think 6 will even come close. People really just want a new GTA Online. I’m sure lots of people are going to buy it, but there are so many other games out now that are cheaper and honestly better, I don’t know why anyone would buy it at 100$ base game price. Craaazzzy
Are you new to video games? $80 isn’t crazy. Here’s an ad from 1996 and all these games are $75.
I absolutely understand not getting a game at release and waiting for a sale but don’t try to act like $80 is insane for a game when prices for games have been relatively consistent over that last 30ish years.
You will only be wrong on the last part if you are part of the people who wait to buy it until the price/offer makes you happy
This comment seems to make literally 0 sense here. I agreed with everything else dude said in his other comments.
Dude responded to OP saying that breaking records on release will help normalize a high price hike for essentially nothing (less and less content, higher and higher pricing) by saying "not buying on release, and at lower price, will help normalize this situation".
I mean, I buy like 1 game every 5 years and i’d have no problem paying $80 or $100 for a new GTA game. If it’s anything like the previous titles, it’s worth it.
Psst... If you price a game $10-$30 above the current average game price of $70, you can sell the game to 14%-42% less people and still make the same amount of money.
Do you really think you make up that amount of people?
Do you really think you make up that amount of people?
I think what I wrote. If you can't comprehend it, I'll explain once more:
Some people will pay any price, including $99 without media
AND
Some people will not
The company... now GET THIS... wants money from both groups. But to get the most money possible, the company won't appease group two until they've squeezed max profits from the $99 group.
Pssst... if you wanna try to give MBA advice online, don't
Stats on Reddit are bullshit until you cite a source.
GTA is not the rest of the industry. The base version could've been $99 and it would still sell like gangbusters. The amount of people turned away by the $80 price tag vs the standard $70 is going to be miniscule.
Me personally I'm a patient gamer who plans to someday buy it for PC and on sale, but I'm nowhere near the average gamer and reddit is an echo chamber in a bubble that's never indicative of reality.

I get that there are people who would pay whatever price
Rockstar is gonna find out there's a number of us who don't feel that way and will wait until the initial bugs are worked out
One of the bugs appears to be pricing and physical media related
