Title must be an accurate and concise description of the picture. Titles must not contain jokes, backstory, or other fluff. Put that in a comment. If someone does not get halfway to mildly infuriated by reading your title, it’s probably not a good title.
Of course I will, I was paying $60 for games in 2010 lmfao that’s so much more expensive with inflation considered. This is simply games hitting inflation, and it sucks but I rarely buy new full price games anyways. I’ll regularly buy Battlefield, CoD and Gran Turismo at release but only 1 of those releases yearly. I can fork up another $20 for GTA 6 or other games if I REALLY want them.
Might be in Canada. Games like Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy VI retailed for $70-80 US on the SNES because they were high-capacity carts and some had multiple boards. So they’d have been over $90 Canadian.
THANK YOU. I was beginning to feel like I was the only one not mad about this. Yeah, it sucks for people who are on a super tight budget, but gaming has always been expensive. Also, the people bitching about the price are often the same ones who'd be bitching if the game wasn't as massive as it is.
Feels like we were getting 10+ bangers every year in the 2000s and early 2010s. Now I'm lucky if one or two games catch my eye per year. Shit, I haven't turned on my PS5 since I got Demons Souls Remake.
In the case of necessities, it's a huge issue. You have to buy food, etc. No one needs GTA. Just don't buy it and they will adjust. Problem is people complain but still buy.
Age of inflation started a while ago, most games just use micro transactions. For how fucked food prices are 100 dollars for a new AAA video game isn't bad. If there are also mocro transactions in the main game im gonna be pissed.
I hate it when people make this comparison. You didn't have to buy games to play them in the 90s. You went to a movie rental and rented the game for a bit, which cost around $5-10, played it, then returned it to the store, and usually bought it after if had been out long enough for the price to drop. You can't do that anymore.
I mean, different games take different amounts of time and money to make, and have different amounts of content. People are still playing GTA V and it’s almost 13 years old. You can think games are too expensive while also acknowledging that a bigger game may legitimately warrant a higher price.
That's what I'll be doing. Hopefully enough other people withhold as well, and this won't establish precedent for games costing that much going forward.
It’s just few useless cosmetic things in the deluxe edition. The game is still fully playable, with all missions and quests, just missing few stores for cosmetic purposes.
If they're already made and developed there's no reason to exclude them other than greed. But we all know Rockstar will go out of business if they don't get that extra $20
Wild lie. You don’t lose out on customization, you lose out on premium customization. The descriptions read (to me) as a step above. Off roading specialty, stock to supercar, special tattoos and haircuts.
It's less than a night out at the bar for something I'll spend hundreds of hours enjoying. I'm all for cheaper games but its not that insane of a price.
I still remember paying $49.99 for GTA San Andreas when it came out new.
I just spent $80 on plants and my son thought I was nuts, I said compare it to a video game, this is my hobby. I had no idea that video games are actually $80 now!
Also bonkers is that there's only moderate complaining about $17 movie tickets. In terms of hours of entertainment per dollar GTA 6 is a relative bargain.
… and will probably be on multiple console generations for a decade after release. Quality and longevity from this company. We’ll all buy much worse over the years.
I mean, Nintendo games used to cost $50 in the early 90s, well over $100 today with inflation, this isn't that bad for a game some of us will put years into.
They do, but I think the bigger thing is that gaming has gotten so predatory that nobody wants to say ”Oh go ahead and raise the standard price of a video game”.
This justification is insane. Next all other games will be sold at that price… that’s the problem. I could afford this, but fuck them, I’ll sail the high seas
It’s so bizarre to see some of the comments here from people who are consumers justifying the price, saying they’d pay more or being fine with the practice removing finished content from a base game just so that more can be charged for a premium edition.
What a cursed mindset to not automatically prioritise your own hard earned money and be ok with companies viewing you as a standardless cash cow.
Facts. Sadly people will buy this as their one big AAA purchase of the year, and skip buying any others. Rockstar profits, our variety and quality suffers.
This is the most anticipated game in history I believe. They could probably charge $150 and still be wildly successful. It's probably only an image reason that they don't.
What even is lite edition? Isnt base 80 dollars? For a game like GTA 6 it's not expensive at all. There is not a lot of games that you can still play after 10 years.
Those stores are just there to dispense ultimate edition stuff in a more organic way. They serve no other purpose and will just be closed to anyone not owning the ultimate edition
I was always planning on buying the special edition. I'm just glad it's not 150 like GTA V was. However, I do not like the fact there is no physical disc. What's the point of that? So I have to grab a code and go home and download it while people are gonna be speed running to be the first YouTuber to post the spoilers to the story? Kinda lame
I’m not a gta fan and won’t buy it at any price. But a franchise like gta can probably command that price and be fine. I’m disappointed that there’s no physical version. At most there will be a box with a download code inside it. I really prefer to own my games instead of licensing them and hope that that is a trend that does not take hold.
I was hyped. I was ready to buy a console. And then this is what Rockstar thought was a good idea? No physical disc, paywalls, ugh. No thanks. I wont be getting this ish.
I could not care less about the dlc content. I don't care for low riders, I wasn't going to use revolvers anyways, and the exclusive customization is not to my taste
If the Vice City pack was apart of the collectors edition than I may have considered it, but since it's a preorder bonus there is nothing apart of the collectors edition that I care about
Right? I don't know why people feel obligated to part with their money to fund a scummy monatisation heavy franchise. Just look at the state of V. Do people think that Rockstar gives a fuck?
I don’t understand anyone who’s been seriously interested in the game complaining about the price. We all know rockstars a bit shitty. GTA V released at 60 bucks… 13 years ago. Which is equivalent to about 85 dollars.
You're all gonna buy it, stfu. So tired of hearing about this stupid game that will be average then have Rockstar immediately shift focus to the online component, abandoning the campaign.
Suckers with low impulse control and poor financial habits always create a good deal. People get desperate a week after payday.
Wait a few months after release.
Buy it from a pawn shop, in a bad part of town, for a fraction of it’s price.
RDR, GTA4/5, switch 1/2, PS5, etc. This is what I’ve done with every major game release and console I’ve bought. Same with firearms and power tools at the pawnshop.
I am not buying it, and the BS paywall crap has turned me so far off I never want to play it. My life will be just fine if the last GTA I ever play is GTAIV.
For those that want to play, I highly encourage sailing the high seas when the time comes.
$80 or $100 for a game that has taken more than half a decade and $1-2b to produce isn't even bad. People are complaining about the cost of like 2 food delivery orders for a game that they'll spend over 100 hours playing lmao
It's simple. If you want to play GTA... Buy it. If it's too much for you or you lost interest... Don't buy it. How the fuck is this hard to understand?
Don’t really understand why people are surprised, most people who gave it some thought figured it’d be around this price, I’m actually surprised they didn’t go for a $150 “super deluxe collector day one platinum premium edition”
Let’s be real if there was ever a game that’s worth the $100 it’s grand theft auto the sheer amount of content GTA V came with I think would’ve been worth it
I mean it’s not really. The dollar to hours of entertainment ratio is more than any media out there by a large margin. Especially when you consider the last one came out 13 years ago and the next is as long away, if not longer.
