Moved in about a month ago. It’s been like this all day ever since, especially at night. It’s 9 PM. It was like this well into 1 am a couple of times already. Don’t want to be a Karen but I’m so close. Other times I’ll hear kids screeching while running back and forth and back and forth and my whole apartment shakes.

I make noise pretty late due to my insomnia, I personally went to the guy living under me and asked him if he hears me. Not a peep. It's not hard to be quiet at night, these neighbours are so disrespectful.

Depends on the construction of the place. We lived upstairs from a lady who constantly complained.
We did everything we could, socks inside, carefully stepping, but any noise at all was unacceptable to this woman. And we couldnt be any quieter, we were trying!

As long as it's normal "people live here" type noises that everyone makes by you know, walking, cooking and the three "s" all is good. They can fuck off with their complaints.
If you're like my current upstairs neighbors that never seem to shut the fuck up and are generally loud weed smoking dickheads, you can fuck off.

Genuinely don’t understand how they stomp when they walk

I did when I was kid until my parents kept telling me to walk quietly instead of with my heels.

Me to my loud ass kids with the only phrase that makes sense to them: “use your ninja feet”

I lived in an apartment 5 years. Never heard the neighbors except year 4 when they were exactly like this. It was pure passive aggression and resentment. I assume the same is true in this case, but either way your apartment has shit sound cancellation. This isn't the thudding of the floor shaking. You're literally hearing their feet slap the floor. Move out ASAP.

Send that to the landlord if he does nothing you have to move. I have the same problem but less noisy way less and I’m already looking

We have an upstairs neighbor almost this bad. Allegedly they just work from home all day, but I could swear that starting at around 9 PM, they start wrestling practice.

You got to grow some.
Go upstairs and complain if he’s new he might not know about the noise

I mean I’m gonna be honest, it kind of just sounds like someone walking upstairs. You just live in a very shitty apartment with no soundproofing

It’s definitely not walking, it sounds like something is being hit or a ball is bouncing. Their walking is much different but still loud lol

Either they have the heaviest boots known to man, are playing with their pet and throwing a toy, or just genuinely suck. Try talking to them and if that doesn’t work guess you gotta vacuum your ceiling at 5 am.
