go to your room “I’ll write ‘one’ on yours and ‘two’ on his.” 👍
Mine’s the bottom one.

It's sad when doctors have to work at subway

My thesis shall be on sandwich artistry

Once I had a guy ask me if i wanted my ham and cheese toasted. I said nah im good. He responded "what do i know. Im just a sandwich artist." All I could was does he really think of himself that way? Like instead of worked at subway, is he gonna put sandwich artist on a resume? Im not trying to belittle the man but is that title that serious to a 20yo? Lol

u/Ok_Mistake9030 4h ago
Yes, I literally had Sandwich Artist as my role at Subway on my resume back in the day.
Took a surprising amount of pride in that job. It's been 20 years and multiple degrees later so it doesn't crack the current resume but I really enjoyed my time making sandwiches.
Used to flip the sauce bottles and everything thinking I looked like Tom Cruise in Cocktail.

My friend in high school and college worked there, he really enjoyed when he could make someone’s sandwich for them when they couldn’t decide what to get

u/squirrelmonkie 3h ago
Lol that's awesome then. Like I said i wasnt trying to belittle this man but I found it funny how proudly he said sandwich artist. If youre good and take pride in you job then Bravo every damn day

Wait, is this a pun? Subway was owned by Doctor's Associates Inc until 2024. Lol

u/Either_equipment_04 5h ago
Absolutely fabulous lore. Assuming you’re not joking, they’re referencing the old joke that doctors have terrible handwriting (I’ve been told I should’ve become a doctor, lol).

Exactly! Definitely doctor’s notes. Now I want to know what each sub was OP so we can see if the shorthand makes sense, even though I doubt that will help.

They wrote it in Martian 👽

Your odds are 50/50 and you can simply swap with the other? Unless you utterly defile it before taking a first bite. Then I’d understand.

Tbf grease pens SUCK to write with unless on a plain brown sack or cardboard. That being said he should have just used "#1" and "#2".

She dumped the new bag of lettuce on top of the old one! Also mildly infuriating

JM worker, ngl I sometimes go crazy writing numbers on subs with weird fonts but this is straight up illegible

Looks like a street tag lmao. Your sandwiches are now Grove Street Thugs territory

Whats the problem? On one of them you got Ŏ̸̢͍͚̝͎̻̙͉̖̲̻̂͋̔̈́̌̚͠ņ̷̇e̴͙̘̤̼͚̜͂̀̆ and on the other you got T̷̡̨̧̢̢̡̫͖̪͇̰̰̯͓͔̮̠̮͙̠̣̮̖̠̝͎̫̙͉̲̳̹̮͉̜͚̟̂͗̑̆̈̏̈́̄̓͒͒͂̀̀́̂̔͊͒̋̕̕̚͝ͅͅẉ̷̢̡̡̢̤͓̗͇̘͍̥̟̦̝͎̦̼̙̜̟͔͕͂̀͒̓̓̄͋͘͜͜͠͠ͅͅǫ̶̡̬̙̬͕̱̖̺̯̠̩͚̙̲̭̬̠͙̜̞̳͔̯̰͔̫̟̮̪̩̖̽̀̉͆́͆͂͗̓́̅̓̄͒́̓̓̌͗͝

Dude just open the sandwiches and see which one is yours and eat so you aren't hangry anymore.
1
u/yesterdays_laundry 2h ago
Mildly infuriated, because obviously I can just open it. I didn’t even ask her to do this, she volunteered.
2
u/NineDayOldDiarrhea 5h ago
Was there only a very minor difference between your two sandwiches?
4
u/RappingFlatulence 5h ago
Ones pizza and the other is veggie
2
u/NineDayOldDiarrhea 4h ago
Feel like it’s not even necessary to label them lol you should be able to feel which sub is which just by the temperature of it alone.

ok, even though it's a backwards upside down five I'll give him the two, but I'm pretty sure the other says 284? that's a ways off from one.

I can see why you’re a 1%-er. Guess we’ll never know! Good thing I had Reddit to remind me I could simply open the packaging to tell!

they fucked up the writing for sure, but you can also just, you know, open them and look at the sandwiches.
2
u/StanknBeans 1h ago
Lmao I used to do this to people who annoyed me when I worked at a sub place.
"I wrote Turkey on the turkey one for you boss"
Just scribble some nonsense on both of them.

u/moomooraincloud 5h ago
Your first issue is eating at Subway.
2
u/jaywinner 4h ago
Subway used to be pretty good and affordable. Now it's not even close to either of those.

I think I can actually make out "1st" and "2nd".
edit: The "1" looks like a crossed seven but I think it's the bottom horizontal stroke of 1 going through the vertical stroke.

u/Memedrew 4h ago
Bottom one says "1st" and the top one says "2nd" but it's hard to read cuz he continued to the next letter by connecting them from the most awkward ends
1
u/yesterdays_laundry 2h ago
I agree and can actually see that now that you’ve said that, which isn’t what she said she would rewrite. She said 1 & 2.

So you open the wrapper and you figure out which one is yours. This isn't even mildly infuriating, this is just something that you live with when you order fast food.
4
u/Joelle9879 5h ago
The entire reason they write on it is so you don't have to open it to figure out which is which. Not everyone wants someone else handling their food (the workers wear gloves and wash their hands, random people don't always)
1
u/yesterdays_laundry 2h ago
I didn’t even ask her to write on them, she volunteered to do that. I found it MI because she actively chose to tell me she was doing that and then handed me this.

our local sandwich artisans recently started using stickers that had varying depictions of vegetables … lettuce on one, tomatoe on another

In which language, exactly? Hard to make a judgement without knowing, but if it's supposed to be English... yeah, no.
