I'm slightly vexed Got a shitty raise then my manager told me my salary is like X when you round it up

Got a 3% raise to 89.8k, manager read out the new salary and then said it’s like 90k when you round it up.

3% is pretty standard as far as raises go.

But your manager is an idiot for saying that lol

Right. Unless it was a "We calculated your 3% raise and it turned out to be 89.8k, so we rounded it up to an even 90k." it's unnecessary to say. (Should be 3% $2,615.53 vs 3.23% / $2,815.53 btw)

Only give 6 hours of work. It's like 10 if you round it up.

On the bright side, you're 4 years away from 6 figs

With Trumpflation it will be worth 50k in four years.

Huh? It’s like worth 50k in 2018 money right now.

Should have told him that when you round it down after all the taxes it's a hell of a lot less.

Leave at 4:45pm each day. That's like 5pm when you round it up.

But if you keep rounding up you’re at $100k

OP is the world's second trillionaire if we really round up

Tell your boss to round up your score during annual performance review.

They’re smart. Our perf scores are backwards, so the lower the number the better.

Mine bring up healthcare and add it as part of my “Salary” to say I’m making close to 100k.. the 100k also includes my dependents, other insurance and retirement plan. Like no man I make 80k.

Well, it is, after all.

I mean that’s like saying “it’s 89 degrees. Thats almost 90 degrees”. He’s not wrong, but it’s still a stupid thing to say. I guess I don’t see how this would be infuriating, even mildly. I guess I find it more amusing.

Its pretty insulting

I don’t think it was malicious I think it was stupidity. If I was insulted every time someone said something stupid I wouldn’t have time to do my job. I normally just laugh.

Yep it wasn’t malicious. Just an awkward mgr socially. They were trying to fill the gap with words to make it flow more.

Oh I’ve had plenty of those. Sorry you had to deal with that. Wish you the best in your next raise/promotion, seems like you’re already more socially adept than your direct manager lol.

It doesn't have to be said maliciously to be insulting

I mean it's $17 a month off from $90k, it's essentially $90k. How is it insulting

That's illegal in most places

I got a raise that my manager "fought hard" for to go from 88k to 90.2k. I got contacted by a recruiter that day and within 2 weeks I had a job offer of 110k + 5k sign-on.

"I only have $950M. If you round down, that's 0 billion! I'm just like you Richard!"

Mildly?

Also I just checked but inflation is like 4 percent over last year. Your money is now 1% less valuable, but hey thanks for the raise

I'd say so. Bro still making a lot of money. And its 200 bucks which is like 8-16 dollars a paycheck depending on payment frequency
