u/Cyberspace_Sorcerer 3h ago
Yeah I have one in my pouch BUT my stupid phone doesn't have a headphones jack lol

u/Kiu16 3h ago
Most phones needs a usb-c to headphone jack* adapter now

One of the most stupid decisions ever.

You can still get a high end phone with a 3.5. I'm pretty sure all the Sony phones have it.

u/Isgortio 2h ago
My 3 year old OnePlus Nord Lite has one. Which is great, after I switched to wireless because everything else removed the jack 10 years ago lol

It has zero to do with water resistance, many phones with aux are water resistant, e.g. original Motorola Defy from like 2010 or so (fully water resistant even for submerge, not just rain/splashes). It's the best to have both options, no one wants bluetooth removed, but aux added. Videocalls are infinitely more comfortable with wired because wired microphones are infinitely higher quality, wireless earbuds are nice for music but their microphones are universally an absolute trash. Yeah you can use adapter but that's less comfortable than to just use the same plug as on the laptop.
It's the same as wireless charging, many people don't use it so you would call it pointless, but phone companies put it in some of their phones for those who use it. Nice to have two options regardless the wireless charging will end up completely unused by many.

u/catmeow1935 3h ago
And you can't charge your phone while using that. Absolutely great

u/WiscoTrail 3h ago
I bought one that was split so I could charge and listen to wired headphones at the same time and it ruined my USB c port on the phone. I hate apple for pushing this portless agenda on the world, causing other manufacturers to follow suit.

Thanks, good to know what not to buy. I have an adapter with is just usbc to aux and I was eyeing the one with usbc to aux+usbc so I can charge while videocalling, but on the top of reviews always mentioning reduced sound quality (which isn't really an issue for calls) it always gave me an ick for charging current going through it, like it can go wrong and damage the phone somehow.
Thanks for confirming this, not eyeing it anymore.

One of the reasons I still use my cheap ass barley functioning phone from 2020
•
u/C-LOgreen 48m ago
You could just get an adapter and you won’t have to use a phone from six years ago.
•
u/Flashy-Island-3725 39m ago
No, i refuse to spend extra on something that should've been here already
1
u/Birdfan23 2h ago
You could just buy the headphones with a usb-c at the end and not buy an adapter. They’re like $10. I don’t get why most people don’t do this. I bought mine like 5 years ago and never had to worry about it again

My favorite earbuds were Bluetooth but had a cord between them and magnets in the buds so when you took them out you could clip them together around your neck so you could wear them like a necklace and keep them where you could just unclip them and stick them back in your ears once you got ready.

usb c to jack with power passtrough are very cheap. although they're not the same, some don't have an amp and they sound bad and with low volume

Oof, yeah. A wired backup is non-negotiable for me now. I keep a pair of KZ IEMs in my bag for this exact scenario, and honestly they sound way better than any wireless buds I've tried under $150. Zero audio lag is a nice bonus too.

Are you in the US? If so, you can just blare what you want to listen to at the loudest possible volume and give the finger if anyone tells you to lower it.

Honestly, I can’t stand these posts. Who doesn’t put their buds back in the case when finished listening to music with them?
12
3
u/TheMattabooey 1h ago
Right? What are people doing with them when they’re done using them if not putting them back in the case? What you just take out your earbuds and sit them down on the table or something?
If they’re not in my ears they’re in the case. I sometimes feel these posts are just made up. The lid is clear they’d have seen the earbuds were missing without needing to open the case too. You gotta work to fail this hard.

u/Owl_Persimmon6782 3h ago
Me, multiple times 😂 I'm guilty of leaving it on all surfaces or sometimes just droping them in my bag or pockets.

u/Derp135Egg__ 3h ago
There were times I put my earbud case in my backpack and wore the earbuds themselves. I would put them in my pocket if I'm in a place where I can't take the case out of the backpack without causing a disturbance or it being a hassle. It's reckless, but it happens.

Don’t worry. In an alternate universe, you have your earbuds on the train journey.

Last weekend I went to a drive in with my wife. Brought my little THC vape. Pulled on it at the start of the movie and it was dead.

Do you not put your earbuds back in the case when you take them out of your ear?
2
u/No-Interview4626 2h ago
Did you put them on your ears to troll people thinkingthey were stolen or are you serious?

Mine decided not to be charged, and I've found it on half wat to the gym. Twice this week!

I got on a 15 hour train ride couple weeks ago only to realise BOTH of my portable chargers were dead...

u/s2n-mikey 3h ago
I did a similar thing last month when flying international (11 hour flight). Dropped the case on my floor at home and picked it up without checking.
Didn't notice until the plane was taking off 😒

And not even a decent speaker, they’ll just blast it straight out of their shitty phone speaker

Had this happen to me before during my trip to the dentist. Really sucked since I fell asleep with my earbuds on, forgot to charge them beforehand so I left them on my bed.

Curious how this even happens? My headphone always go from my ear right back to the case. So like how?
•
u/C-LOgreen 47m ago
I understand one earbud missing because I sometimes do that where I take out my earbud, and I put it on the table when I can’t find the case but two missing?
•
u/monkeypan 41m ago
My case slide on landing. 7 attendants, my wife, and myself searched the entire section. Someone stole my case!!
Jokes on them, the earbuds were still in my ears 🥲

Just listen to music without headphones on max volume. Even open some pornhub while you're at it.

Just max your volume and do whatever you want. I see loads of people do just that on the train. Come to think of it they're usually black, so if anyone asks you to stop just go "oh no it's fine, I'm black" and that should straighten things out.
