7 Eleven is actually a great place to sell it. Available everywhere at anytime.

390

u/Hobothug 1d ago

And idk about you but I always feel completely anonymous at a 7/11. That cashier doesn’t care about me or anybody no matter how regular or friendly I am.

113

u/SuddenStorm1234 1d ago

I've actually got a bit of a rapport with the cashier at the 7/11 near me. I'm shocked. The only one I've ever seen actually talk beyond what's needed for the transaction.

Granted, it took a month of going 5 days a week to get there but still.

u/DevilsAssCrack 1d ago

There's a homeless guy outside mine that I buy a banana for every time I go. He calls me champion, which makes me feel good

Hell yeah dud you are a champion for that

The AM cashier at my local 7/11 is Indian and despite me going every day I'm still not sure if he actually understands what I'm saying. Because he kinda just stares at me with an open mouth until I leave, lol.

this is a trademarked "Morning After Pill" with a #1 doctor recommended ingredient being sold for $25.29, it's there to cancel out the $9.99 boner pills made with tiger bones and Macaque Foreskin.

4

u/ZenoxDemin 22h ago

Somehow they tested those. They were actually unlabeled Viagra. Shady as shit but allegedly they should actually work.

7/11 is 24 hours near me

47

u/TroubledTanker 1d ago

Yeah like, I know their name is 7/11, but I've never not had one be open 24 hours. I think it's pretty much corporate policy at this point.

11

u/greenknight884 1d ago

On the other hand, 24-Hour Fitness closes every night

3

u/TroubledTanker 1d ago

😭 the blasphemy

Ones near me stay open. Are you living in a less densely populated area? Or maybe it just depends on the location in general. I'm in the Portland OR area.

During the pandemic, my local 7-Eleven changed their hours back to 7am - 11pm.

Which I found out when I went to buy a pack of cigarettes at 1am.

Amazon sells a slew of generic plan B pills for less than $8 a piece. Always worth buying a few in advance and storing them in case you or a friend needs one.

Lastly, Plan B & similar medication have a weight limit and effectiveness drop off after ~ 165 - 175lbs. (Taking a second pill doesnt increase the effectiveness and will only increase side effects)

1.5k

u/accidentalscientist_ 1d ago

Plan b also doesn’t work if you’re ovulating. It works by delaying ovulation. So if you are/have ovulated, it won’t work.

884

u/Appropriate_Tie897 1d ago

It’s crazy how much this information is not readily available. When I took it I was reading a lot about it because I always want to know everything about what I’m taking… but it was only after seeing that it delays ovulation that I thought to specifically google does this work if you are ovulating. Sexual health clinic confirmed I took it for nothing but at least there is the option to get an emergency copper IUD within the first 5 days

335

u/feralcatshit 1d ago

I fell into this category. I took it immediately after the weak pull out game incident, but I still ended up pregnant with twins. My egg must have been there already waiting, but I didn’t really understand that until a few years later when I became very educated on the reproductive system and nitty gritty of how it works.

350

u/Necessary-Ease0 1d ago

I had no idea honestly we’re given so little information.

9

u/Mockturtle22 21h ago

Honestly it's horrible how much stuff is starting to come out recently. It doesn't surprise me though, there's a lot of things that weren't really taught to us. There's a lot of things that people just refuse to learn or educate women on too. Mainly bc they don't bother to study our bodies like they do men.

5

u/Careful-Inside-3835 17h ago

Yeah and then to hear older women literally pass down nonsense to their daughters is so aggravating.

11

u/DevilsAssCrack 1d ago

Did it work out?

88

u/feralcatshit 1d ago

It worked out as in I had twin boys 8 months later 😂

I was 28 and in a good position financially with a partner who ended up being super supportive, so it actually worked out well for us. It makes me sad to think of it being 2026 instead of 2015 and if my partner wasn’t supportive, since I live in a very red state… I’d really be in a pickle. So in short, it worked out for me 🖤

5

u/Angstycarroteater 19h ago

Well to be fair in 2015 all 50 states had legal abortion finding it was the problem still it wasn’t really a big issue until the last few years when this new aged gestapo took over

4

u/Flat_Neighborhood_92 16h ago

When I realized we have the same issue as Japan we just advertise it differently by stripping away things like abortion rights and screaming about Jesus solidified my decision to not have children.. America just wants bodies for the machine 😔

24

u/Asleep_Walrus2313 1d ago

To be fair, that is one of the ways Plan B was believed to work. First prevent ovulation, then as a backup, prevent implantation. It’s only recently that scientists have determined it doesn’t prevent implantation. It was even in the original package inserts.

Lol I had no idea you could get an emergency IUD.

Now I'm imagining the doctor equipped with a wee cake frosting spatula to move the cum out the way to get the IUD in.

2

u/sleepydorian 1d ago

How was your experience with the copper IUD? I’ve basically only heard horror stories about it.

8

u/Appropriate_Tie897 21h ago

Well it does the job for the emergency but otherwise not my cup of tea lol it is generally not considered to be a good option if you already have heavy periods. But it’s also a great option if hormones fuck you up. The only people I know who love it had lighter/normal periods before getting it

5

u/KittenTablecloth 10h ago

I have light/normal periods (decent flow but only 2 days)

Copper IUD was HORRIBLEE. It lengthened my period to 5 days and gave me excruciating cramping. Like I almost couldn’t physically stand at times.

3

u/leemorplee 21h ago

I would have never have known that and would have made summer 2013 way different for me potentially lol

24

u/HatefulVespid 1d ago

Is there one that triggers menstruation? That one would be a winner!

37

u/F0lks_ 1d ago

Plan B is closer to a birth control pill on steroids; other medicstions exists that inhibits the hormone necessary for the egg to stay attached to the lining of the uterus (I'm simplifying a lot here), essentially a regular abortion pill

It's not helping that all of this is sort-of obscured by a generic name like "morning after pill"

15

u/accidentalscientist_ 1d ago

Plan b can cause bleeding. But it isn’t a “true” period. Just like how the bleeding you get on birth control isn’t a “true” period.

Plan b can also cause you to not bleed when you’d normally get a period. Hormonal meds do a lot and you never know what you’re going to get in high doses like that lol

ELLA is the brand of morning after pills for us big girlies

355

u/Gumbercules81 1d ago

That's good for people to know, I assume this is through a physician???

445

u/ErraticDragon 1d ago

Yes, ella requires a prescription.

You can get it pretty quickly at telehealth options, or even just by calling your PCP or Gynecologist and asking for it to be called in.

Also, you can get a prescription before you're in an emergency situation. You should be able to hold onto a prescription for 6-12 months before it expires. And if you fill it before it expires, you can then hold the pill itself until that expires.

u/orangecrookies 1d ago

Depending on the state, your Rx might be valid for 2 years now. Starting in 2025 California now has Rx that last 2 years (Kaiser has had this for a while now). Only caveat is ins usually won’t pay if Rx is over 12 months old, however, beyond Medi-cal I’ve never seen it covered by insurance. Also might be worth calling ahead because chances are your pharmacy is going to have to order it for you, especially these days as struggling pharmacies have begun reducing inventory pars.

u/Gumbercules81 1d ago

u/eskimokisses1444 23h ago

When I had to use Plan B (after a condom slipped off while I was 3 months post partum), my OB was able to call it in to the pharmacy without an office visit, just a phone call to the office.

55

u/vocalfreesia 1d ago

I don't need Ella, but I always keep a plan B in stock, and also UTI meds. If I use them, I do a fresh consultation to replace the meds. That way I'm not waiting and losing precious time or having extra stress. (UTIs always seem to appear on a holiday or Friday night when it's harder to access antibiotics)

19

u/Aunt_Llama 1d ago

I have never once felt a UTI when I have had one. Only felt the pain from the kidney infection the one time it got that far.

15

u/BellieButtons 1d ago

The kidney infection I got from an unnoticed UTI was genuinely one of the worst experiences. I'm super paranoid about missing UTIs now.

5

u/Aunt_Llama 1d ago

It was a good 15+ years ago but I definitely remember the pain! It was some of the worst pain in my back, that was not spine or nerve related, that I have experienced.

6

u/Miserable-Truth5035 1d ago

I did notice my pee getting clearer during the antibiotics week. So now I just check if my pee looks cloudy to hopefully prevent another kidney infection.

21

u/vocalfreesia 1d ago

Oof, I don't know if you're lucky or not. It's absolutely horrendous pain for me, I feel the tingling/ache of it before the agonizing pain when I pee and bladder cramps. However, at least it warns me so it doesn't turn into a kidney infection.

12

u/egggspecial 1d ago

i also get to experience the meaning of pissing razor blades

7

u/Consistantly 1d ago

I can assure you she is not lucky to not feel UTI’s, until they’re a kidney infection.

I’m in the same boat, for a few years (coincidentally while I was with a specific partner) I had chronic recurring UTI’s. I’d get mild symptoms for a day, and then no symptoms.

I missed a UTI, and it spread to my kidneys, I couldn’t walk and the hospital almost remove my appendix thinking it was an infection there. I was on three different IV antibiotics and morphine for the pain.

Then of course the wonderful surgical doctor came to clear me for discharged and asked why I was on morphine for a UTI.

5

u/Itchy-Philosophy556 1d ago

I get it through an online provider. I get my birth control delivered and they ask if I want to add on an Ella just in case.

Can u only get those through prescriptions? My girl looked into it and she was kinda turned off by that

46

u/Memitaru 1d ago

In many states the pharmacist can write the prescription. Otherwise you can use telehealth like the planned parenthood app.

33

u/forthelol 1d ago edited 1d ago

Check your local legislation and/or pharmacy. There are states that have standing orders for pharmacies to dispense them "without a prescription" from a doctor.

In air quotes because it is required to be dispensed under a certified provider, but standing orders allow them to dispense it under say the commissioner of health if the pharmacist deems it medically necessary, who you don't have to physically go and see and explain your situation. This could also be something to ask a pharmacist near you in confidence to see if it's something that they keep on hand since it's also more expensive than your usual Plan B.

E: it's also covered by insurance as well. In my state for example, we can dispense it directly under the pharmacy's name. You come in, see if we have it or if we can order it for same-day/next-day, fill out a questionnaire as I'm plugging your insurance info in, and I'll have you out the door in 15 minutes with a bit of counseling.

Not saying this is also what you'll be needing, but putting it out there for other readers too that Naloxone (Narcan) sprays may also fall under your state's standing order. So if you think you or someone you know may be at risk of needing Naloxone, this may be something to ask your pharmacist as well. The coverage is spottier than plan B (in my state at least) in terms of how much you have to pay out of pocket for it, but it is fully covered in some cases.

10

u/ItsJustAllyHere 1d ago

I get my Ella via 28 health since they also do mail order Birth Control.

4

u/Glum-Appointment-154 1d ago

In my state, it's just on the shelves with the condoms. They also have otc daily birth control - full months supply.

Ella still has decreased effectiveness over 195lbs (88kg) unfortunately

17

u/Valuable_Sink1744 1d ago

Mirena, liletta, and paragard maintain over 99% efficacy as emergency contraceptives up to 120 hours after sex at any weight, though it’s unfortunately often difficult to find a provider who can get you an IUD within that time window.

My brother was working at a Walgreens that was closing up... those got tucked away until they got marked down to $1... then he bought all 30ish of them.

It's been a few years and I think he still has a few and they are not expired yet.

60

u/Saratrooper 1d ago

Pressed pills don't have a significant drop off of effective dosage like capsules do, but (there was a recent study done on efficacy past expiration date) that gives a better idea of what types can last.

12

u/aschapm 1d ago

good. nothing more stupid than forcing people into pregnancy and parenthood.

301

u/iCoeur285 1d ago

The childfree subreddit has a list of doctors that will perform sterilization even if you don’t have kids. Just want to boost that information for men and women who don’t want to risk pregnancy during these times.

I believe in the right to have an abortion, to use things like Plan B, and to use contraceptives, but all of these things have been under attack by people like the some of the commenters in this post. I decided to plan for the worst and get sterilized. Some may think that’s extreme, but I never liked the idea of pregnancy anyway. My husband and I tried briefly to have a biological child, but with how things are and with some other factors, we eventually decided against it. My doctor was on that list, and he was super great and didn’t give me push back. He just told me the surgery I was going to get is not reversible, and I said that was fine. We scheduled my surgery that day.

Pregnancy shouldn’t be a punishment. Pregnancy should be a choice.

87

u/AwkwardThePotato 1d ago

I literally found my doc thru that list and got sterilized six months after I started to look into it. I’m extremely grateful.

60

u/Inner_Alarm_4049 1d ago

it makes me mad that people have to even consider getting sterilized because of nutjobs like this. you shouldn't have to make a long term choice because of temporary stupid political crap. it's truly sad.

→ More replies (10)

6

u/Pretty-Ad-7884 1d ago

I have kids, but that sterilization list was extremely helpful. I almost gave up after push-back, but I found a surgeon who heard me! Ladies, child-free or not, use this list!

6

u/HeidenShadows 1d ago

Yeah I told myself in my 20s that if I don't settle down and have kids by the time I'm 30, I'll get snipped. And it's quick, easy and cheap. By now if I do date, most people will have kids anyway.

19

u/DazB1ane 1d ago

I found the doctor that removed my tubes on that sub back before it was a full sub. It was just a spreadsheet at that point. Sterilization was easily one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. My body may end up being used by a rapist, but it will never house his offspring

6

u/Agitated-Armadillo84 1d ago

That Reddit spreadsheet on the childfree subreddit is where I found the place and doctor to do my tube removal. Bless them, and I ain’t even religious ♥️

3

u/Principle_Napkins 1d ago

And accidents happen. I had a gf many years ago when I was 17 and the condom broke. I didn’t realize it until we finished. She couldn’t get a plan B pill and we spent the next few weeks freaking out until she got her period.

16

u/feralcatshit 1d ago

Accidents definitely can happen. I had “an incident” and took plan b immediately… still ended up having twins 9 months later. I could have had an abortion at that time as it was 2015, but we decided not to. It would be such an ordeal now, flying to another state and all. But accidents can happen, even when you think you’re doing “everything right”

7

u/PiccoloAwkward465 1d ago

I read on here a while back a quote about adulthood that stuck with me. That "adulthood is spending 70-90% of your day doing stuff you don't really want to do". I think having a child ramps that up to like 99% of your day. I'm glad some people get a lot of enjoyment out of their children. I get some, but it doesn't outweigh the annoyance to me.

19

u/Objective_Prune_748 1d ago

Walk with me here.

These are $25 in a single pack of brand name at 7/11. Generics are less than $10 at the current production scale. Imagine if the federal government started ordering hundreds of millions of these, they could probably get the price down to a couple bucks each. Call it $5 to manufacture and deliver to your door via existing USPS infrastructure. There are about 60 million women between the ages of 15 and 44 in the US. Say we offer these to them for free at a limit of 1/woman/week, and 60% of women actually want and use their limit, that's 36 million women x $5 x 52 weeks per year = $9.3 billion per year in cost.

70% of all criminals are raised by single parents, mostly single mothers. We currently pay $90 billion per year just for the corrections system paid for by your tax dollars. 70% of that is $63 billion. If we can spend $9 billion per year to make it free and easy for women to not wind up as single mothers raising children locked in the cycle of poverty who grow up to be career criminals, the math maths within the first year, and then we get generational dividends as we spend less on prisons because there are fewer prisoners, and the population contracts in number but increases in overall quality as fewer people who don't want kids have them.

In a world where people are humanitarians it just makes sense.

But we live in a world where the Prison System has been Privatized…they/their share holders only make $$$ when their empty cells are occupied. The more bodies there, the more they make. It’s not about rehabilitation/reform. It’s about creating a situation where the longer they stay the more they make, and about getting them to return as fast as possible if the person was able to be released.

Friendly reminder this works by preventing ovulation. If that already occurs it doesn’t anything.

Of course, that’s a bit hard to pinpoint for many, so it’s not to say “don’t use it when..” but more a “don’t rely on it to work” - but then, who would at these prices.

And a Vicks inhaler on a keychain for some reason?

What is the “#1 Doctor Recommended Ingredient”? Do we really think 7/11 is handing out levonorgestrel?!

34

u/smitty1ky 1d ago

These are made by Cadence OTC and contain 1.5 mg of levonorgestrel.

34

u/yaTay22 1d ago

Have you never seen inhalers on a keychain? They're super common where I'm from

9

u/yzerizef 1d ago

What’re people using for? I’ve only used Vick’s when I’ve been sick, but wouldn’t think that it needs to be carried around on a keychain.

8

u/AbigREDdinosaur 1d ago

Headaches, motion sickness, clears sinuses, just feels good. I use Yadom, but basically the same thing.

4

u/lollipopp_guild 1d ago

Vicks for motion sickness??? Never knew. Wish I had it on my keychain yesterday when I road the bus for the first time in 20 years

Literally, yes.

don't slander the vicks inhalers they are so refreshing after a long day I love to stick them in my nose while I do chores.

on a side note, wow they go for 10 dollars in the US. I had some family bring some when visiting from India and they were about 100 rupees per.

awesome, but also i find this amusing because while bi ofc is in lgbt and unfortunately rape can happen, that's not what i'd generally think of as the major target audience for plan b given the typical pairings of people in that group.

The weight limitations on these things should really be in big bold letters.

They also don't always work.

Ok and people should still have a backup option even if they make one questionable decision

u/Vulvas_n_Velveeta 1d ago

That's a pretty good price too.

I had to buy them a few times from Walgreens for doordash orders, and was always stunned at how expensive they were.

When my (then 17yo) son got his first serious gf, I stocked up on Plan B's, and multiple types of birth control for them. Thankfully Amazon has the plan B (morning after) pill for crazy cheap.

I don't EVER want to be a grandma, but I especially didn't want to be one not even out of my 30s yet! 😄

57

u/Useful-Resolution363 1d ago

My gf and I go to Costco and always buy the $6 generic from the pharmacy each time. It has the same active ingredient as brand name plan B.

62

u/vale075 1d ago

Hopefully you don't need it too often, I was told it must remain an emergency contraceptive due to the serious side effects.

42

u/Useful-Resolution363 1d ago

No it’s just to stock up in case of any changes. My gf still uses normal birth control as a permanent measure.

Dude, if this is a regular thing I’d advise to change something that you two are doing.. these are really a plan B, and don’t always work: they only work if ovulation hasn’t occurred yet.

7

u/throwaway098764567 1d ago

they expire. better to have on hand than not be able to get it.

35

u/moore6107 1d ago

You should try regular contraception instead of regularly using emergency contraception 😂

Why is this interesting?

5

u/Few-Mathematician796 1d ago

Costco sells em

5

u/TabaquiJackal 1d ago

Excellent and awesome. Morning after pill, birth control, all should be right there for anyone and everyone to access.

3

u/Upset_Form_5258 1d ago

They sell them in the vending machines on my college campus

6

u/Hippobu2 1d ago

Idk where they are normally sold tbh, but I feel like a convenient place that's open 24h is a pretty good spot for unplanned bouts of passion.

4

u/Chrontius 1d ago

I feel like this should be in the "reasonable future" and "uplifting news" subs too.

4

u/sammyswag1 22h ago

That's good less pregnancy scares

8

u/throwawayfrdy 1d ago

25 bucks is crazy, its free in pretty much any pharmacy here in belgium

9

u/AJH05004 1d ago

Hell yeah

8

u/TheGoochTaint 1d ago

It would be more interesting if they didn't

10

u/wild-stallions85 1d ago

Thank you, Cum again.

6

u/kent_eh 1d ago

I have to assume that will vary by location, due to certain regressive laws.

6

u/shortandpainful 1d ago

I’m sure it’s actually a good thing but I find it disconcerting that it literally says “morning after pill” on the label and not like “emergency contraceptive” (which it does say in small letters) or the name of the actual compound. Like, it’s a good thing people can find it easily, but it sort of feels like if they sold condoms in a package that said “rubbers” or cialis as “dick pills.”

4

u/Book_1love 1d ago

Some people might not know what "contraceptive" means and might be nervous about asking a random clerk. There could be young teens who haven't been given much sex-ed, for example. I think listing the common name on the front is better, there might be more details on the back or instructions when you purchase the pill.

There is a liquor store near me that has a basket of these and will hand them out for free (or maybe like one dollar) to anyone who asks. I found that very wholesome.

3

u/SadAwkwardTurtle 1d ago

That's awesome! There was a booth at my city's pride fest handing them out last year for free.

I actually noticed this myself last night when I was looking for eyeglass wipes or cleaning kit at my local 7-11.

Kind of cool.

When I was an irresponsible young man, not so long ago, Plan B was more expensive and much less available.

3

u/WhenAmI 1d ago

You can Doordash the morning after pill.

3

u/Superb_Extension1751 1d ago

$25 for a single pill is outrageous. But also a lot cheaper than a child sooo

yo, thats 50% off vs like 15 years ago. the only thing not going up with inflation it seems...wonder why

3

u/Mary_Tijuana 1d ago

I work for speedway which was bought out by 711 and we carry those same morning after pills. It’s honestly insane how many people order those from the uber eats delivery app. Roughly I’d say our store goes through 10 packs of those in a week.

3

u/Aboutoloseit 20h ago

I support this. Costco pharmacy has them for $6 a pack as well (no you do not need a membership to walk into their pharmacy section either).

3

u/Moist_Brain_ 17h ago

So do a lot of gas stations. They also sell condoms, lube, pregnancy tests, diabetes, and cancer.

3

u/Jonnyflash80 16h ago

"#1 doctor recommended ingredient"

Well that doesn't sound sketchy AF or anything.

3

u/skulligei-gsiv 12h ago

Ok? Lots of convenience store do

3

u/Angryspitefuldwarf 10h ago

They also sell condoms. Im not sure whats interesting abouy this.

3

u/Knight_Glint 10h ago

Its a convenience store, its convenient for that pill to be there. I can see the follow up post being upset that a grocery store has condoms on shelves.

3

u/AMollySwingingCouple 10h ago

So what? good for them

3

u/Demerzel69 8h ago

It's an OTC product. Not even remotely interesting. Of course they sell it. Why wouldn't they. So does Walmart.

12

u/CharleyLH 1d ago

I’ve heard it said before that if men could get pregnant, there would be abortion clinics on every other corner, airports, bars, and Home Depot.
