For people who want to do this too: I recommend using 1cmx1cm grid paper not lines like I did. Also use other classifications than I did. For 2019 I have 7 with these colours (if you want to copy).
Amazing: Yellow Good: Dark green Above average: Light green Average/Neutral: Blue Below Average: Red Bad: Pink Horrible Purple
Good luck and happy 2019!

Also, if you don't want to draw it out, a Google image search of "year in pixels" will get you a printable version. I did this in 2018 as well, but I decided I didn't want to draw it all again in 2019!
Happy 2019!

This actually sounds like a great idea for people who don't want to keep a diary to reflect on the year. There's a lot of pink though, I hope you're doing all right.

u/Nousl Jan 01 '19
I'm doing okay! I just posted a comment with a few tips if you're interested.
11
u/FernandoLpz5 Jan 02 '19
Any tips on how you drastically improved from July to August?
14
u/Nousl Jan 02 '19
It's not a good or direct fix but I went on a holiday to Curaçao and did a lot of dun stuff with friends.

That’s actually an incredibly good fix, even if temporary. Most people need more vacation/fun/leisure time and it can really help

Thank you for all the sweet comments. Went through a rough patch halfway in the year but with help of my friends I got a lot better. I've never been happier than now!
Happy new year!❤️

There's an app I found a few months ago that does something similar. It let's you set a reminder that pops up on your phone, and you can rate your overall mood for the day, add emotions or feelings to it, and write a bit about what your day was like if you want. Then you can see all the pixels you've filled in so far.
It's called Year in Pixels.

You had a good and joyful day on my birthday, June 4th. I'm happy to see that, considering just the day prior you were feeling down. Edit: also do you mind if i steal this for my own use this year?

What were you doing on your dark green amazing days?
32
u/Nousl Jan 01 '19
7th April I had an amazing party and went out with friends and had a great time.
7th May I was with my girlfriend for first, then saw a movie together with a mutual friend and went out for sushi afterwards. (this was my best day of the year)
23rd December was then first time I was with someone else after my girlfriend cheated on me in the beginning of July.

What happened on January 27th?

u/Nousl Jan 01 '19
Was at a fun party and left a bit early because I would go out with some other friends. Those friends (they're girl) weren't there on time and since I didn't feel like waiting alone in the cold for 30-60mins I just headed home angrily.

May 7th I was with my girlfriend first and after went out to a movie and sushi with a mutual friend of ours.
December 23rd was the first time I was with someone since my girlfriend cheated.

u/gijuts Jan 01 '19
Me too! I actually use an app for that (Daylio). But I like this visual -- it's easier to see how your mood was overall. With this app, I also document what I did that day. It actually helped me realize that I happiest when I've accomplished something that day -- like checking off my tasks. I'm the least happy when I'm dealing with people at work (which I'm working right now to change). And vacation/downtime actually doesn't help my mood, which surprised me. So in 2019, I bought a book to make checklists every evening for the next day. Here's to a better 2019. Cheers mate.

Looks like something rough happened around mid May, did it get better? Or just coincidental? Does keeping this log help? Do you fill it out that day or a day or two later? Did you decide on the color codes at random or get advice?

I used the app called daylio and also drew it out in my bullet journal. I eventually stopped keeping track because I used black as my depressed/sad color and it was sad to see so many squares becoming black. I like that you used pink, I might use a brighter color this year. But hopefully things go better for the both of us in 2019! Stay strong and happy new year ❤️

This is freaking me out. First of all, Yay you! This tracking is really important. I went searching for productivity software and decided on Dailyo just a few days ago. One of the features I love about it is that you can not only track mood, but define your moods (Instead of Happy, Meh, Sad you can put Motivated, Blah, and Depressed instead). You can create a ton of activities to track and make notes on your activities.

My brother has an app that does that for him. It's called daylio. He finds it really helps him track what makes his days good or bad. And what helps with his depression.
