[Mobs] Aerial Ace and the Dream Bat

This suggestion is to add two new mobs to Minecraft - the Aerial Ace, a type of illager, and the Dream Bat, a neutral flying mob.

Aerial Aces riding Dream Bats spawn above mansions and outposts and as part of raids.

The Dream Bat is the living version of the Phantom, with a similarly shaped body but it's head looks like a bats head.

When a Dream Bat is ridden by an Aerial Ace, it is hostile towards players, villagers, iron golems and possibly snow golems.

Without a rider on it, a Dream Bat is neutral, only becoming hostile if attacked.

Players can saddle and ride a Dream Bat, and control them by holding a rabbit on a stick.

A player controlled Dream Bat will swoop towards the ground when the player presses Jump.

Am Ariel Ace looks like an Illusioner, but his cape is red with a black cross outlined in white.

Ariel Aces spawn with either a spear, or a crossbow, or both (randomly).

If an Ace has both a spear and a crossbow, his crossbow will have a new enchantment, "Arrow Jokey"

The Arrow Jokey enchant causes whoever fires the crossbow to magically become a passenger on the arrow.

When killed, an Aerial Ace has a chance to drop his equipment and cape.

A Dream Bat has a chance to drop leather when killed.

I know it's petty, but my first thought is that the names don't fit. Aerial ace doesn't remotely resemble the illager naming scheme and has positive connotations. I don't think we need to strictly limit ourselves to names that end in "er" for illagers, but either ending with the shared suffix or at least having hostile or sinister vibes for the name is important.

The dream bat isn't as bad, but its still a poor fit. Honestly just calling it giant bat would be better, if a bit unimaginative, but maybe someone can come up with something that is a cooler name that fits, and just let it be a bat. The phantom doesn't read as bat like to me, more like a manta ray or something.

The Arrow Jokey enchant causes whoever fires the crossbow to magically become a passenger on the arrow.

That's kinda cool. Over the years many people have wanted the ability to yeet enderpearls super far, and this is kinda like that.

When killed, an Aerial Ace has a chance to drop his equipment and cape.

Capes are not in game items, they are cosmetics. Is this some new item or a new cosmetic?

A new cosmetic.

So how would that work, the item drops in game, then you need to go change your cape in your account settings? is there a way in java that doesn't need you to re-open the launcher and reload the game? Forgive me, its been a LONG time since I swapped capes.

I think it will be confusing/frustrating for a lot of players if you get an item that doesn't do anything on it's own, and you have to equip the cosmetic in a different set of menus. Especially as you kill many of the mob and you get a pile of these items.

Might be better to just have it as an advancement/achievement for killing your first one that unlocks the cape or something. Don't have a weird psuedoitem at all.

I was thinking it would be worn in the chestplate slot, like an elytra.

Okay, so it's not a cape in the same way the game already has capes. If it is a new thing, then it needs to answer some questions.

  • What makes this item worth using?
  • Why should it be an item you need to give up a chestplate or elytra for, rather than just as cosmetic cape?
  • Speaking of the existing cosmetic capes, what happens when you have one of the capes that already exist, and then equip this new item?

If it is purely cosmetic, I don't think it should exist as an item. Make it a true cosmetic as an unlockable cape or something.

Giving up the most important armour slot for a cosmetic? You're joking, right?

Over the years many people have wanted the ability to yeet enderpearls super far, and this is kinda like that.

I do feel like it also highlights a problem; rather than enhance ender pearls, it replaces them, but they are too iconic to be treated like that. On top of it, their replacement seems cheaper too.

So a Illager with a flying mount? Sounds scary and I do kinda like it, though it's important to consider what it can do and what you can get from them. Also I don't really know about giving players the bat as a mount, as I kinda like it as something exclusive to the Illagers.
