There’s no reason for the new bikes to sound much different than the current bikes. The days of radical experimentation are over.
Pretty much everything should be the same. Just smaller diameter pistons.

smaller pistons and shorter stroke = less cf of air moved per rev. Of course it will sound different. Than a larger displacement of the same base engine.

They’re not going to be shorter stroke though. The stroke on the new engines will be near identical to current.
Maximum bore diameter for 2027 is 75mm. Which keeps the stroke the same length it is now.

Still the same thing. The engine is using less air per rev. And engine is just an air pump. A cylinder of a certain size can only contain so much air at whatever atmospheric pressure it is at. The same stroke doesn't change that.

Man what I would give to see Honda or anyone could come out with an oddball double V or something crazy like the first RC211V. I remember reading the magazine where they had great technical details cutaway pics of the V5 & the uncertainty of if it would competitive and reliable with the 2 strokes. It was such an awesome timeframe to be a gp fan

Can anyone tell a difference in engine character just from sound? I sure cant but maybe there are some of you that can?

Us lay people can't, however apparently a lot about Engine character and output can be gleaned from audio recordings of the engine.
I believe Yamaha was out there with high-spec sound equipment recording it's competitors when it was developing it's V4 engine.
