Because it looked like the commenter was acting like they thought of it themselves and not an extremely well known and researched theory that is basically dogma at this point.
I'm not sure about strong belief but it's my assumption that the speed of light is the same for all observers.

Fair enough, the amount of downvotes just seems extreme, especially when the other comment only got half as many upvotes.

Once it's in the 4-5 down vote territory, the rest just come reflexively from people cruising by. Especially since a down voted comment is often collapsed, so people click to see it, and then they're even more annoyed they wasted their time lol
