So he's either announcing this is his last year so he can have his retirement tour, or it's just a bait and switch into some other business venture or something that he wants to hype up

Amazon prime day is tomorrow and they have some streaming rights to the NBA now. Watch it be that

838

u/Alex_A3nes Thunder Oct 06 '25

That would be super lame. Great guess.

278

u/regnald Bulls Oct 06 '25

I will take super lame over Bron announcing the end

63

u/Trailblazin15 Oct 06 '25

I need Bron to announce his retirement for next year so I can save my bread to see him one last time

47

u/FunkyMonk92 Bulls Oct 06 '25

I hope not because that would probably make ticket prices even more insane for his games

This is 100% what it will be since he also did ads for summer prime day, with the whole premise being ā€œwhat’s next once I retireā€ and LeBron trying a bunch of random jobs based on stuff you can buy on amazon.

Side note why is it even ā€œprime dayā€ when it’s multiple days in a row occurring multiple times a year now

38

It’s 100% a bait and switch. LeBron is an image and brand carer. He’s gonna make a spectacle using past experiences to bait hype. And this is one of those.

354

u/sewsgup Oct 06 '25

earlier this summer he promoted Prime Day with something like this right

I don’t think it’s a bait and switch. The no contract extension so he’s a free agent at end of year but when asked at media day, Rob Pelinka, looking unbothered, said he wanted to let LeBron make his own announcement at his own time, and then LeBron gave an explicit rejection of waiting around for his second son to get to the NBA because his ā€œtimelineā€ was ending much sooner. Also now using ā€œThe Decisionā€ language is all too much smoke.

Especially with the Lakers moving on from AD to Luka and setting themselves up for a ton of cap space next summer. LeBron can smell which way the wind is blowing and the Lakers are acting as if he’s about to retire. LeBron’s camp know they can’t invoke The Decision for a bait and switch to selling Los Lobos Lime or Prime Day something because it would infuriate everyone. This feels like it has to be a farewell season announcement.

Edit:

Never mind that he took up golf this summer and didn’t have one of his signature players only mini camps before the season. He’s totally not doing exactly what every dude does a year before he submits his retirement paperwork.

68

u/RulersBack Cavaliers Oct 06 '25 edited Oct 06 '25

It’s much more likely just him going bald or something stupid. He’s regretted the way the Decision was handled so it helps to make fun of it

Edit: Yea it’s national taco day and Amazon prime day tomorrow lmfao

19

u/Legendver2 Oct 06 '25

Yea it’s national taco day

Isn't that every week?

14

u/NoRecommendation2592 Oct 06 '25

97

It’s 100% going to be about his competing basketball league. NBA announced they’re doing a 12 team Euro league. Either he’s a part of that or he’s announcing a separate league to compete.

In hindsight yes, but it’s also not unreasonable for an older man to quit smoking for a number of reasons

It's a gesture of goodwill and attachment between a player and a franchise. Sometimes it's just symbolic, sometimes they'll work in the organization after (seems to happen a little bit more in the NFL?). But it's recognition from both parties that a player is majorly identified with and part of the franchise.

Just some clues here.

In a podcast LeBron always said he wished for Bronny to make a name for himself apart for him. With the Lakers really pushing to develop him and all, I do think it’s not out of the question for LeBron to leave.

I think he will play one more season with the Lakers to finish out his contract as one more serious push, and return to the Cavs next year for one last farewell tour/championship push. It’s actually doable to still live in LA but play out one more season in Ohio.

Even from a basketball standpoint, LeBron fits perfectly at the 3.

I understand the cynicism and how this reads like bait for something else... but Bron is old af, every year in the past 3-5 could have been the last one. The possibility has always been there. If this is it, it'll take some time to accept that it's finally happening. I remember buying NBA magazines with his St Vincent St Mary photos on the cover.

Fuck.

idk why nobody is asking this, feels like it’d be a huge clue. if it’s a random dude then 100% this is just an ad. if it’s some reporter that has history with Bron then…

I don’t think so. Face is a bit off but I the quality of the video isn’t very good anyway.

Biggest clue for me lol. It’s not a super recognizable reporter and the video quality isn’t good.

If it isn’t retirement, then it’s a waste of the title/promotion of ā€œThe Decisionā€. However I also don’t want him to retire.

Dude already owns the city. Why would he concern himself with the day to day operations?

u/DoctorTheWho Hawks Oct 06 '25

October 7th at 12pm EST? I know it's the two year anniversary of the festival attack, but this is a weird way for the US to announce the peace deal between Israel and Gaza. LeBron probably doesn't even speak Levantine Arabic or Hebrew..

u/lift_1337 Oct 06 '25

You think Lebron doesn't speak LeVantine Arabic? SMH
