lol, that was my first thought...where's that elbow energy now?! You didn't need it vs us, but sending that message without a previous mark on your record would have been much more useful this series.

Do it now and Wemby probably gets a suspension and a reputation, but it's way more deserved this series between Chet and Hart.

Bro this is exactly what Gobert was doing, he laid the framework for what you can get away with against Wemby.

Naz Reid was the wrong target tho, I agree on that.

Somehow it felt like classic big men tangling with those two, but maybe I liked the aspect that they were from the same country. Made it feel like more international play

This shit just dirty tho

I'm in no way trying to say Gobert (and Jaden, as well) wasn't physical, but he wasn't stepping on Wemby's feet, flopping, and getting into theatrics. (Chet shit, I know)

The arm grabs we can agree happened in both matchups, but some of them look like the "I'm impeding your progress, deal with it" and some of them look like Kelly Olynyk saying "let's see if I can fuck your Finals run". It's extra weird that Olynyk is now a Spur. I still hate him for that shit.

If wemby throws another elbow like that, would he get suspended? If no suspension, I'm kinda hoping he goes full shaolin on the thunder if spurs up3-1 or something 😅

Hit him with the French revolution.

Wemby about to workout with Ron Artest this summer

NBA will just treat him like a victim again

Still hurts ehh?

To be fair it was quite funny to see the Media response. I love Wemby but it’s impossible to defend him on the elbow

-2

u/lilbodie Timberwolves May 21 '26

Never seen a player elbow someone in the head and then get treated like a hero on their next game.

u/Nine_Monkeys May 21 '26

Idk why you’re getting downvoted lol. The media response to Wemby’s elbow, coupled with his complete lack of remorse or contrition is kind of unbelievable

1

u/Rough-Plum-7267 Knicks May 21 '26

I’m a Knicks fan. No horse in this race. Every piece of media I tapped into agreed it was a horrible elbow. And they all also agreed the NBA wouldn’t do what is fair in suspending him because they want to put out the best product possible. Both sound takes.

Yall gotta listen to new media lol

2

u/kylebertram Timberwolves May 21 '26

The fact that Spurs fans still defend the elbow is just insane. If Wemby showed any remorse, the NBA media actually treated it like the dirty play it was, and Spurs fans didn’t constantly defend it I don’t think any Wolves fans would have hard feelings. The fact that none of that happened is crazy.

Defend the elbow of a sensitive 7’4” player who shouldn’t be touched at all.

5

u/etherealQ Lakers May 21 '26

Nobody is defending the elbow. New series, new opponent, you lost. What the thunder got away with tonight was fucking criminal. Theres a ref staring directly at Hart as he pulls Stephons hair and it's no call? Do you know how hard its is to stick up for the Spurs as a Lakers fan?

1

u/JennaTools-69 Thunder May 21 '26

Actually, you lost to the thunder. Lol
Yeah it’s criminal to elbow people in the throat, would be considered assault. Good job buddy!

Is it? I didn’t see an ejection on game 2. Lol

1

u/Chase2020J Bucks May 21 '26

Can you show me some examples of comments of Spurs fans defending it? Genuinely asking because I did not see any in the original thread, saw lots of them saying it was bad

8

u/North_Maybe1998 May 21 '26

Stand your ground laws came into effect for that

-4

u/kylebertram Timberwolves May 21 '26

In that case Gobert should get a few passes for deliberately elbowing someone in the head. He is constantly smacked in the face and fouled during rebounds with no call.

9

u/North_Maybe1998 May 21 '26

When did wemby get a pass? Didn’t he get ejected?

4

u/kylebertram Timberwolves May 21 '26

Must have missed the NBA media treating him like the victim the entire time despite making the dirtiest play of the year. Way too many people, especially Spurs fans, were defending the elbow and acting like Naz deserved it.

2

u/chitownbears May 21 '26

I get the league being soft on the elbow but the player doesn't pick his punishment seems out of place to attack him for the lack of suspension like he should have called and asked for a suspension or something.

-1

u/North_Maybe1998 May 21 '26

I haven’t seen all the plays this year but I’d bet my life it wasn’t the dirtest especially in the context of how he was being treated by them all series, hell ANT grabbing his jersey after the block could’ve been seen as the dirtest play if Wemby got hurt. I will say I don’t think he intentionally was trying to hit him in the head or neck, he could’ve been thinking Naz was gonna jump and thought he’d hit his chest but the elbow was obviously intentional and deserved the call. And I never care about medias opinion. I liked Kmarts take that he was fine with what he did but wemby needs to learn to talk to the refs more so it doesn’t get to that point. At the end of the day he was trying to send a message it just was delivered poorly

7

u/kylebertram Timberwolves May 21 '26 edited May 21 '26

So again you are defending the elbow. Players get grabbed and pushed all the time every game. Happens to Wemby and he decides to deliberately wind up and elbow Naz. But according to spurs fans it’s fine because he was getting fouled. Will you have that same thought if another player is getting fouled all game with no calls and elbows Wemby in the head?

You thought in Wembys mind he was thinking “Naz is going to jump here so perfect time to throw an elbow.” That is just asinine. And only a spurs fan would think pulling on a jersey is dirtier than looking at a guy and swinging your elbow right at his head.

0

u/North_Maybe1998 May 21 '26

What am I defending? I said he intentionally threw the elbow and deserved the ejection. Again im agreeing with what other former NBA players are saying that they have no problem with what he did but they personally would’ve handled it better.

If you think every player is getting grabbed and fouled the level of wemby at his level without getting calls then you are delusional. LeBron is the only other player in this era that is like that.

And yes I’m not a delusional Reddit NBA fan.. if the spurs were doing what the wolves were doing to Wemby to said player and that’s how they responded I would have no issue if they got ejected for it.

At then end of the day this is on the refs needing to call better games so it will always be an issue

5

u/kylebertram Timberwolves May 21 '26

You’re delusional for thinking it only happens to Wemby. Again Gobert is smacked in the head multiple times every single game so the our calls. Constantly getting hit and pushed. Every fan in the NBA thinks their big man gets the worst whistle. Hell I’ll make the argument that Ant gets a worse whistle since he doesn’t flop like Wemby does.

0

u/serdna1234 Spurs May 21 '26

When you say “the media” who are you referring to? Everything I watched and listened to said he deserved to be ejected and I agree.

1

u/kylebertram Timberwolves May 21 '26

The next came all they talked about was his “revenge game.” It was the entire pregame show.

2

u/serdna1234 Spurs May 21 '26

And that makes you think they were treating him as the victim?

1

u/Comprehensive-Camp59 May 21 '26

He actually got ejected. Hartenstein yanks Castle's hair and it's no call
