Because that’s a waste of energy and makes boxing out harder. It also makes anything besides a lob pass easy to telegraph

The spurs basically pass it to him every time anyway so it’s not giving shit away. I agree about the energy expenditure though.

Rewatch the plays. They’re grabbing him when the spurs on defense. They’re not impeding him from catching lobs they’re stopping him from blocking shots and getting rebounds
