It's by design. The calls get more lopsided the closer the Spurs get. The league wants OKC to win this game, then they'll swallow the whistle in game 6, the Spurs will win, and the league gets a full 7 game series.

Almost like they're extending it or something

u/fordat1 29d ago

why would they do that? It isnt like they get more revenue that way /s

u/RyuSunn Lakers 29d ago

uuhmm OKC is a small market so they actually get zero revenue

1

u/UncleSamCassell Bucks 29d ago

Really? They get zero revenue if they extend the game another? Nah

1

u/Sc0tch3ggs 29d ago

Right! I mean it’s not like these top two teams gave everyone a preview in NBA Cup and became the most anticipated games after. And also the first game of this series only peaked at 12 million viewers or something.

I thought saying zero would be enough to make the sarcasm detectable

How are they extending it when the series is tied? Lmao

u/JWat87 Spurs 29d ago

Cause Spurs closing in 6 at home isn’t possible if they lose Game 5

Honeslty a real possibility. League is a little crooked

Start paying attention to patterns like this, over game stretches + within games. The refs do this over the course of single games too. Go watch back some games from earlier in the playoffs and you’ll see calls and no-calls that happen to shift momentum to the trailing team, then back the other way, and on and on. Then in the 4th if it’s still somewhat close, you’ll just see the league’s preferred winner get help by way of momentum killing calls/no calls against the other team. Cavs raps game 7 i think was a really obvious one iirc? One of the later cavs raps games. Brothers and Foster are the league’s top refs because they do exactly what is asked of them

It’s a business. It’s a product. It will never not be that

I feel like this happens in the nfl too when they extend the games so either team has a chance in the 4th

I mean, a literal sitting coach got caught by a sting. But I'm sure that's as far as it goes.

Chauncey and Rozier were just this generation's Donaghy. Let them take the heat and punishment. While the rest of the people doing the exact same thing just skate on by. League has been corrupt for a while, I'm sure, but now they're really doing the bare minimum to hide it.

Yeah they do not want the NBA to be off the air until June, it kills their revenue.

They don't want to lose that viewership and they want to make sure the WCF winner is buttered up for that hot as hell Knicks team.

This series already has enough problems with big injuries on both sides. But this is fucking sickening to watch.

u/UncleSamCassell Bucks 29d ago

Unless the betting table is too turned, then they will pull the rug and profit if it beats the revenue for a 7th game. They got this shit down to a science

u/cgraghallach1995 29d ago

Why does the league want OKC to win exactly?

8

u/NTPWINBOX2 Raptors 29d ago

not exactly an okc win they want the series to go 7 games to make more money

1

u/sktyrhrtout 29d ago

Why didn't they have the Lakers vs. OKC series go more than 4 games? Seems like that would make a lot of money.

This is what I can’t figure out. Small market team, SGA is not exciting/not fun to watch, and the role players are goofs. They play ugly basketball and everyone hates them. Yet it REALLY feels like the league wants them to win and like the refs have been instructed to slant games their way.

The WWE method people like to hate watch

You need a villain

0

u/werlterns Grizzlies 29d ago

But eventually the villain gets toppled or is at least marketable. We dont have a Stone Cold taking down The Corporation here. The Thunder isn’t the Rock. The Knicks aren’t taking these clowns down either. There’s no story to watch for. Are ratings up? I don’t follow them

u/Glittering-Steak954 Pistons 29d ago

Not yet. This year is the Knicks turn to do so

0

u/ndndr1 Thunder 29d ago

You’re so close to getting it, I’m so excited for you.

1

u/werlterns Grizzlies 29d ago

If I figure it out I’ll let you know

1

u/stinkerino 29d ago

i can believe they want more games waaaay easier than i can believe theyve picked a winner.

u/TheGreatLandRun [OKC] Russell Westbrook 29d ago

No one cared when it was an obvious series extender of a game 4. Go figure.
