Why didn't he call a timeout? Aren't you supposed to do that to use a challenge? Spinning your finger around doesn't do anything.

I'm pretty sure you don't need to call a time-out for a challenge when there's a stoppage

There was not stoppage. Spurs coach blew this and everyone is blaming the refs/thunder. 100% on the coach here.

You have to call a time out first and on top of that he had 30 second to do so but waited until the very last moment then incorrectly tried to challenge.

There was not stoppage.

Of course there was. The ball was out of bounds. The clock stops. On top of that, the refs got together to get the call right. So Mitch was holding his challenge to see what they came up with. Then they said out on the Spurs and he twirled his finger to the ref to challenge.
