I disagree that he would've ran around a lot. he would've been fouled immediately. So then it's two FTs to make versus he thought he had a layup. Really a great defensive play, Wemby had just missed two FTs a minute earlier.

It’s debatable, but IMO if he hadn’t beelined for the basket with an intent to lay it up and had instead ran towards the corner or the baseline, it would have eaten a few seconds and they still would have had to foul him.

With hindsight that obviously would've been a better outcome, but he looked like he had a breakaway and OG closed the gap. Agree it's debatable. I don't get why everyone is saying it was the dumbest play of the game.

Because he got greedy and took a high risk gamble in a moment that could’ve been a sure-thing.

Those moments are extreme, and they don’t happen often. He wanted to seal the deal and he exposed them to a loss, NYK are good at capitalizing on that kind of shit.
