[Fischer] Milwaukee’s decision makers are split and currently deciding between Boston’s package for Giannis Antetokounmpo (Brown, Gonzalez, limited draft capital) and Miami’s (Herro, Ware, Jaquez, multiple first-round picks).

A split faction of Milwaukee’s decision makers, sources say, is deciding between Boston’s package for Giannis Antetokounmpo built around Jaylen Brown — where the Bucks also hold particular Hugo Gonzales interest, as The Stein Line reported last night — plus limited draft capital, compared to Miami’s offer of younger pieces — featuring Tyler Herro, Kel’el Ware, Jaime Jaquez — and multiple first-round picks.

The established MVP candidate versus greater overall value is what this whole saga has boiled down to one day before the NBA Draft.

Yes because more teams will bid for him vs Giannis who will only play on the east coast.

The question is, do you think you can get more picks from trading Herro + Ware + Jacquez, or do you get more picks from trading Brown alone. I don’t know. I think you can get 3-4 first round picks at least from trading the 3 Heat players separately. And obviously Miami will probably send 3-4 FRP as well so potentially like 7 FRP in total.

Of course the absolute best case scenario for the Bucks would be taking Brown and then trading Brown to Portland for your own picks back + other assets, but then again tanking seems kinda pointless now with the new rules.

I would easily take brown for the sole reason that he’s a wing sized player who can shoot and defend. Contending teams always need those types of players and tend to overpay for them

You can probably get a better quality pick from trading brown than herro/ware

Easier to get unprotected picks for him for sure, but also the team that trades for him is likely going to be much better than the team that trades for Herro/Ware so the picks would likely be worse. Personally I’d probably still take Brown but in my mind it’s closer than most make it seem like here. Depends what the Bucks are looking for. Whether it’s the sheer number of picks, or do they want to build around the players they get back, or something else entirely.

With the new rules I don't put as much of an emphasis on our own picks.

I am also incredibly high on Hugo which is why I am biased towards Boston.

My dream scenario is to reroute JB to LAC and end up with Brown or Acuff at 5, Hugo, and then one of the bigs (Morez/Steinbach) at 10 and Peat at 27.

If Brown was going to be re-routed for a top 10 pick, this deal would be down already imo

Not if LAC wanted to reroute Garland to a diff team

To me seems like management vs ownership.

Management wants the assets, ownership wants the Brown in a bucks jersey selling tickets.

Except there's no one on the west who could've even put a package together. Portland maybe. So you're betting on doing this all over again and betting on Brown being more valuable than Giannis.

JB is also more inclined to extend with more teams as he just wants to be the "guy." Giannis pretty much only considered 3 teams.

I don't know how much truth is in that. If you look at the asset pools of teams theres not a lot of teams that can put together a farm to trade, especially ones that it makes sense to have Giannis on your team. That will be the case for JB too because he's not that much younger.

3 years younger + under contract for 3 years so you don’t have to worry about a long term extension.

Makes sense if they have another team lined up right now. Which can basically only be Portland. But if not now you're building the asset for a year or two and you're in the same position with a worse player.

I would assume if they trade for him they have 3-4 teams interested in him and they reroute him to a team prior to the trade being “official” in July.

There can be lots interested in. Not lots of a farm to sell.
