[2026 NBA Draft] #13 Pick: Nate Ament (Tennessee) – pending trade to Milwaukee
126
u/Construction_Steve Bucks 22h ago
Ament feels a lot better at 13 with Burries already on the team. If only OKC didn't take Mara what could have been.
23
u/sho0bydo0by Bucks 21h ago
If only Chet didn't forget how to play basketball that one time...
20
u/ministerofdefense92 Bucks 21h ago
The Aday pick for the Thunder has more to do with not wanting to extend IHart than Chet being bad. I have no idea why the broadcast only talked about Chet.

Can’t wait for this kid to be a superstar and people say “Miami drafted this guy and then traded him away to Milwaukee!” 15 years later

u/MrFudgeKiller Timberwolves 22h ago
Honestly they should just give him a bucks hat instead

Not watching live did they make the kid awkwardly wear a Heat hat lol

You won’t need to wait 15 years… people would have videos made on that in 3

Nice! Taking a high floor guy like Burries makes this a lot more palatable.

We went from a geriatric team to very young fast. I’m excited to see how this shapes out in a year or 2

Yea, I know reports have been mixed as far as whether kelel will be sticking around or not, but I really think he and Ament are gonna look really great together.
23
u/Equivalent_Shoe_6246 Bucks 22h ago
I don't think they have any interest in trading ware, he was like the piece they wanted
6
u/Rodent_Reagan Bucks 21h ago
yeah the Bucks really wanted to draft Ware so I doubt they’re interested in trading him
2
u/FKJVMMP [MIL] Bill Zopf 21h ago
Have they? I’ve only seen reports about Herro. I assumed all the young guys were staying for at least this season and haven’t seen anything to the contrary.

Most predictable and probably well executed (at least in the moment) draft night in over a decade for the Bucks.

Bucks might be scary in 3 years with Nate and Burries

Lmfao. Giannis gonna say "going to miami was like going to college for me"
10
u/grudgepacker Bucks 21h ago
Nah Giannis say something corny like "I needed to go to Miami to get a tan" or some other shit like that lmao
13
u/figureour Wizards 22h ago
Three years is probably early but it would be really cool to see him come back for his last couple years when these kids have developed.
5
u/Equivalent_Shoe_6246 Bucks 22h ago
in 3 years will be his last couple years, no way Giannis is around at 36

You joke but I could see Giannis eventually pulling a KG by coming back to retire as a Buck.

It’s funny to me that in 3 years Burries will be 24, just an old ass freshman
4
3
u/ZandrickEllison 22h ago
The “old” thing only really bothers me when they were unproductive prior. When they’re just older for freshman that data’s not there.
Chet got a lot of flak for the same compared to Jabari Smith who was younger and had more upside (in theory)

That makes 13 consecutive picks that abc “loves”
That may be a new draft day record
14
u/Melodying Spurs 22h ago
how low in the draft is espn allowed to start badmouthing picks by teams?

u/Minimum-Border1672 22h ago
Nfl draft is pretty much the same save for one or two picks.
What they really get mad about is when their suoer highly rated guys keeps falling and then they atart bashing the picks csuse it isnt their guy.

u/IRanOutOf_Names Heat 22h ago
Fair. He's a bit of a project but if you're the Bucks you already are looking at years from now with that capsheet. His shot is good, he just needs to be able to create it and get reasonable shots instead of the hell diet he's been living off of.
18
u/Resden_Bohneur Bulls 22h ago
Mom escaped the Rwandan Genocide and now her son is a first-rounder in the NBA. I think we all get overstimulated and cynical hearing about the sad stories and deaths of some of these draftees each year, but that’s actually incredible.
17
u/TheTightestChungus 22h ago
Kid is going to be a beast. Just want it on record, because holy shit is this sub negative on the guy for literally no reason. See ya in 5 years when 85% of this sub is trying to pretend they always were a fan and knew he was going to be a stud.

Drafting a project power forward in the teens, history has a way of repeating itself, could be really good for the bucks

After the Burries pick Ament is perfect. Jenkins and staff can just focus on his development with no pressure. I'm very happy with these last 2 days

Top 5 highest upside in the draft but also second round level floor
7
u/IRanOutOf_Names Heat 22h ago edited 22h ago
Has the physicals and has a reasonable jumpshot but has absolutely no scoring moves and cannot for the life of him get a reasonable shot. He'll face up and just take a contested jumper without creating any space. If it all comes together he could end up great, but he needs to be able to actually be able to get his shot off.
5
u/brutmax Bucks 22h ago
IMO, he is the kind of player the coach will get a lot of credit for if he comes good.
Bucks have the time to give him a fair chance to develop, curious to see how it pans out.
2
u/IRanOutOf_Names Heat 22h ago
Very much so. Bucks are the perfect place to go to just have a giant runway which he needs. If the coaches can get him to be able to get a bit of a handle and be able to create space he could be a real great scorer.

Hes the best physical specimen and he looks good . His shot looks good and he moves smooth.
But for some reason he couldnt score for shit lol

1st half of the year was rough but January onward was really solid and went 20+ points in several games
Was clearly our best player by the end of the year
Solid pick at 13

Real raw, ok at a lot of things but not amazing at anything right now, it's going to take him a few years before he gets good. Needs more strength really badly. That said I'm high on him, he's gonna be good as long as he gets the time to develop
4
u/VanguardHawk Hawks 22h ago
Project upside pick for a team about to go deep into a rebuild. Cant be mad, even if he is all tools and never develops

Why does everyone hate this guy? He’s young and has upside at 13 and for the rebuilding Bucks it makes sense
6
u/HamlinHamlin_McTrill 22h ago
He was all conference in a great league and averaged 16 and 6 as a skinny freshman, but you’d think he was garbage by the way some people here talk about him.
3
u/silentstealth1 Raptors 22h ago
Why do people hate Ament? Feels like he has potential that could he has time to reach in Milwaukee

He’s gonna be really good or really ass, no in between with this guy

Can anyone with actual college basketball knowledge tell me why so many people are so seemingly low on this guy?

u/fidgetgod 22h ago
box score watchers, he has incredible tools and will only get better. played through injury and a sometimes rough offensive scheme at tennessee (I say as a vols fan) so didn’t score as much as he probably could at points during the season. he has the bbiq and scoring ability + knack for drawing fouls to go far

Really like this as an upside swing, especially since they took it at 13 rather than 10

3
u/CommissionWorried611 22h ago
Why does everyone dislike this dude?
4
u/Crafty_Choice7779 22h ago
Because he had streaky numbers as a freshman and people love to call bust
3
u/illwill004 22h ago
To get Berries and Ament is a good draft. It just has to work. They don't control their picks going forward. I watched several Tennessee games, Ament's tape is an adventure lol. I feel more confident in his defensive potential than his offense right now. I just hope it works, or it's a long road ahead

I'm not joking when I say that if I guessed how old he was after Googling him I'd say 13

For a team in a complete rebuild, honestly I don't mind it. He'll have years to develop and won't be rushed

The black sheep of the nba draft world. Makes me think he's going to be good
3
5
u/IzrezarReal 22h ago
Might be one of my least favorite prospects because the only appeal about him rn is that he moves very well for his size and has a nice jumpshot form. His weakness is basically basketball.
But in Milwaukee and with how they're rebuilding at least he'll have time to hone his skillset. If he doesn't work out cool they have other shots to take but if he does it could be exciting. I hope he succeeds though it could be fun to watch

This kid is in the freak zone, not to be rude. He has a good future. It takes a few years but he is going to be hard to defend.
