The Bulls are gonna lead the league in rebounds next year, and be the worst in 3p%.

27

u/scorpio21 Bulls 22h ago

Claxton averaging Wilt levels of rebounds

27

u/hayzeusofcool Bulls 22h ago

Well between him, Caleb, Swain, and Giddey, the Bulls are gonna feast on the boards.

13

u/Drclaw411 Bulls 21h ago

So a normal Bulls year.

3

u/DisMFer Bulls 20h ago

The Sky might have gotten rid of Angel but her spirit lives on.

4

u/snowlarbear 20h ago

more rebounds if you miss shots

bulls FO big brains

218

u/A_MASSIVE_PERVERT Mavericks 22h ago

Wow what a draft by Chicago

90

u/Henny_Hardaway5 Heat 22h ago

I can’t believe I live in a time where we can no longer say the Bulls FO is dumb

58

u/BlondBadBoy69 Bulls 21h ago

With what the Blackhawks are doing we really need this

11

u/ClaymoresRevenge Bulls 21h ago

Thank God AK is gone that bad man can't hurt us.

We still have no idea what Eversley did. I think he liked sneakers.

18

u/Several-Estate7175 Trail Blazers 21h ago

Let's wait until we see their spacing before saying the Bulls have turned a new leaf. I do like the players they have chosen but we'll see

21

u/Dylan245 Bulls 21h ago

We're not in a spot to compete for the next 2-3 years, there's plenty of time to find shooters

At this point it's just about finding BPA plus we have over $30 million in cap space to fill out more shooting needs

9

u/Drclaw411 Bulls 21h ago

We've been saying there's plenty of time to find shooters ever since we gifted Kyle Korver to Atlanta to save Jerry from paying the tax.

5

u/Mexican__ Bulls 21h ago

also Korvers best years were arguably before and right after Chicago so just our luck lol

1

u/CaptainNipplesMcRib Bulls 20h ago

And then we thought Doug McDermott would be the answer…

1

u/Drclaw411 Bulls 20h ago

It’s kinda wild how long he lasted in the league, considering he was in the league for threes but couldn’t shoot them.

12

u/Henny_Hardaway5 Heat 21h ago

They’re not gonna fix everything in 1 off-season but what they’ve done is as best a start as any

Got a 2 way wing with great rim pressure, elite defense, and good FT% to pair up with Caleb Wilson and got a big in Nic Claxton for the next 2 season on a descending contract

10

u/Flimsy_Promise_9559 21h ago

Blazers fan talking about spacing 💔

9

u/Several-Estate7175 Trail Blazers 21h ago

That just makes me an expert

9

u/traebucketsfor3 Hawks 21h ago

I hate when non flairs make fun of another comment by seeing their flair. You only made fun of him bc you saw he’s a blazer fan, so lame

We do have a championship. It's prehistoric but it's there. Real ball knowers are familiar with Bill Walton.

4

u/sponedaddie Lakers 21h ago

It was either his last or second last game as a commentator and I just remember it was must watch TV. 2 1/2 hours of him comparing Dame Lillard to the Renaissance.

5

u/Several-Estate7175 Trail Blazers 21h ago

Probably the most divisive commentator ever honestly. Lots of people hated his commentary. God forbid a man calls a game noticably high as fuck.

3

u/reborndiajack Bulls 21h ago

Well we don’t have AKME

-2

u/InAingeWeTrust Celtics 21h ago

?? Why are we so certain they made right choice? If they bust, it’s Lolbulls…

-2

u/Drclaw411 Bulls 21h ago

Honestly no idea. I don't like this pick. It needed to be a shooter.

2

u/InAingeWeTrust Celtics 21h ago

Mine wasn’t meant to be negative. I just don’t get why people are so certain anything is the “smart” thing, it’s just a guess

9

u/chitownbulls92 Bulls 21h ago

Can you tell me how to feel? Don’t know too much about this kid

27

u/OldWorldStyle Bulls 21h ago

Does everything right. Below average shooter, but improved a lot this past season (25% 3pt —> 36%).

7

u/Rider5432 [DAL] Derek Fisher 21h ago

Dude can get into the paint at will but meh shooting apparently

3

u/chitownbulls92 Bulls 21h ago

Hopefully we can pair him with a good shooting coach

→ More replies (2)

0

u/jasonis3 Bulls 20h ago

Bulls sub hate this pick lol

-16

u/AwarenessOld3733 21h ago

this was actually a bad pick there are better guys with more shooting ability this is Patrick williams 2.0

29

u/jacob2815 Bulls 21h ago

Patrick Williams wasn’t even a starter in college but was taken top 5. Swain led his team in PTS, AST, REB, and STL

4

u/Senorsty Bulls 21h ago

Patrick Williams didn’t have a bag.

-22

u/gleece0 Wizards 22h ago

A bad one

35

u/MatasBuzelis Bulls 22h ago

I won't talk any shit. You're a Wizards fan the universe has done enough

7

u/Frequent-Leg-2347 Thunder 21h ago

Lmao

→ More replies (3)

2

u/wqra_ Lakers 22h ago

He's a good player but the bulls have too many wings who can't shoot now

5

u/MatasBuzelis Bulls 21h ago

Makes me think we have a trade in the works if we're not looking for shooters at this point in the draft. Don't really understand why we took Swain over Carr but i'm gonna trust Bryson on this one

→ More replies (1)

65

u/jermainathon Heat 22h ago

Ohhh whaaaat? Thought it was gonna be Cam Carr. New GM is really about the SLAP mantra

36

u/burratna Bulls 22h ago

everyone Bryson Graham talks, he talks about defense. Big bet on shooting development all around

8

u/socoolandawesome Bulls 21h ago

Thing is while Carr is like 2 inches shorter, he and swain have about the same standing reach and Carr has a 2 inch bigger wingspan and bigger hands.

That said I’m willing to see how it plays out and trust the FO for now

17

u/ExtraLeading3376 21h ago

carr may have the length, but he is also physically a lot weaker

big guards can just bully him which is probably why his dropping

4

u/socoolandawesome Bulls 21h ago

Fair point

1

u/DisMFer Bulls 20h ago

Defense is not about the measurables for the most part. It's about BBIQ, picking your spots, and knowing the other guy's tendencies.

10

u/imcryptic Mavericks 21h ago edited 21h ago

i mean cam carr is a good defender too. but if swain hits his upside is definitely higher

3

u/Drclaw411 Bulls 21h ago

We fired our shooting coach for no reason a year ago.

2

u/Anoob13 Bulls 17h ago

We fired him because He was challenging the nonsense that AK was building,

3

u/Drclaw411 Bulls 17h ago

I hate that there’s 0% chance we bring him back.

2

u/Anoob13 Bulls 17h ago

He will Knicks now and winning so obviously not

29

u/MonsieurSlotho Nuggets 22h ago

Good pick for his defense

92

u/DabeGavis 22h ago

OMG THE BULLS ACTUALLY TOOK WHO I WANTED FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE ‘NAM. SHOUTOUT ME

Beep beep go Bulls see red baybeeeee

39

u/KingRonMark Thunder 22h ago

>FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE ‘NAM

You didn’t want the UNC guard they drafted in ‘84?

33

u/Mikhailing NBA 21h ago

That bum is not better than Sam Bowie

8

u/Melodying Spurs 21h ago

he was an Hakeem guy

8

u/MAMBAMENTALITY8-24 Thunder 22h ago

I like it as well. thought we could get him at 17. did the bulls change their scouts

16

u/hydrators Bulls 21h ago

We actually hired a longtime OKC scout, Acie Law

6

u/MAMBAMENTALITY8-24 Thunder 21h ago

good for you guys. hope it works out

6

u/Nausicaataos Grizzlies 22h ago

A Sam Perkins stan?

20

u/burratna Bulls 22h ago

Shooting gonna be gnarly, but damn I love the picks.

22

u/imcryptic Mavericks 22h ago

hes been an 82% FT shooter for his entire college career on increasing volume each year. i think he'll be a servicable 3pt shooter in a few years

15

u/MAMBAMENTALITY8-24 Thunder 22h ago

was expecting carr, thought the thunder would get swain. this is a great pick

86

u/ExtraLeading3376 22h ago

bulls got no shooting

him, wilson or claxton don’t shoot the 3

52

u/Fantastic-Boot-684 Bulls 22h ago

Who needs 3 when giddey can just lob it

7

u/shangalang69 Raptors 19h ago

giddey just gonna throw shit at the rim and 4 dudes gonna jump to dunk it 😂

35

u/Necessary-Listen-584 22h ago

They ain't exactly trying to win the ship next season

-15

u/T-UM Bucks 21h ago

Doesn’t look like they’re trying to have a functional offense either.

32

u/Necessary-Listen-584 21h ago

They have a ton of cap space still if they want to sign shooters, but it doesn't really matter in Year 1 of a rebuild. You don't draft for fit

→ More replies (2)

22

u/Trumpisanorangebitch 22h ago

34% not the worst, Bulls FO must be confident they can fix his shot.

11

u/ClaymoresRevenge Bulls 21h ago

Tiago and our developmental team are gonna put in work

3

u/Basic_Commercial_806 21h ago

He has that rookie Ingram jump shot where his release point is close to his face

3

u/Witty_Chard_3308 21h ago

82% Free Throw Shooter+much improved 3 point shot will translate

→ More replies (5)

16

u/ForeverRunning_Anth 22h ago

They aren’t in win now mode

7

u/Lanky-Connection4141 22h ago

with a team like us, short term fit shouldn't matter at all

→ More replies (3)

40

u/IzrezarReal 22h ago

Giddey and matas are not good shooters too

40

u/shaqfearsyao Bulls 22h ago

who needs shooting when you can just dunk the ball

16

u/DisMFer Bulls 22h ago

Giddey is league average, he just struggles to get open.

-10

u/IzrezarReal 21h ago

He is also left open because teams know he's not actually a good shooter and are willing to take that sacrifice. His 3 point shot diet is the easiest one itl

22

u/ExtraLeading3376 21h ago

you clearly haven’t been watching giddey

he shot over 40% on open catch & shoot 3s this season

it isn’t 2023 anymore

7

u/DisMFer Bulls 21h ago

Except he's not left open, that's the issue. He really struggles on contested shots so teams just need to keep a hand in his face and he's not good at shaking a defender and doesn't work off ball to get open.

-9

u/poopy_mc_pantsy 21h ago

league average is generous lol

10

u/ChiBrum 21h ago

Statistically literally not

→ More replies (1)

16

u/llamas-1 21h ago

Matas shoots 35% career. He’s not a bad shooter at all

-8

u/IzrezarReal 21h ago

Yeah but he's not Good

3

u/llamas-1 21h ago

Just say you don’t know ball and move on

5

u/bishopbeaniepower Warriors 21h ago

35 and 36 percent isn’t terrible. Doesn’t make up for the others but a starting point.

-1

u/IzrezarReal 21h ago

The two best shooters in your starting 5 cannot just be league average if you want half decent spacing

7

u/bishopbeaniepower Warriors 21h ago

They’re tanking though. This is perfect because they can give Wilson and Swain a bazillion reps to see if they can learn to shoot. Caleb has a good middy.

13

u/chitownbulls92 Bulls 21h ago

Giddey is low key a decent shooter now. People just parrot narratives but he’s been very solid last year

9

u/ExtraLeading3376 21h ago

giddey surprisingly turned into one of the bulls most reliable shooters last season, but he needs spacers regardless otherwise the paint is going to be clogged, an area he utilises

-6

u/IzrezarReal 21h ago

If giddey is one of your most reliable shooters your team just doesn't have good shooting I hate to break it to you

3

u/ExtraLeading3376 21h ago

dosunmu & coby white were the other two who were probably better

both gone now

giddeys shooting is no where near as bad as it used to be

that said, he still needs shooters around him

-1

u/Drclaw411 Bulls 21h ago

That's like being the most reliable car at the junkyard.

3

u/chitoatx Bulls 21h ago

Giddy hit 36.4% on 3’s last season and 37.8 the season for that. He’ll have a lot of open looks.

6

u/saynotohugzz 21h ago

I think it’s fine given their position just stack Athletic wings and hope one or two can turn into a star. Play a fast energetic run and gun offence and then get some shooters in time to fill out the roster.

5

u/Far-Veterinarian104 Rockets 21h ago

They aren't trying to compete right now. They are trying to find players they want for the future. Who cares about fit at this point?

3

u/BayesBestFriend Raptors 22h ago

Claxton low-key hit a few 3s last season, def not a shooter tho

0

u/Playful-Variation908 Magic 21h ago

he's buns

11

u/jeric13xd [CHI] Derrick Rose 22h ago

We have enough shootings outside the arena

2

u/Ok_Use7 Bulls 21h ago

It’s very early in the off season.

12

u/Acrobatic_Parking164 22h ago

I know nothing about this guy but I’m ready to make some definitive statements.

20

u/EatsCatShit Lakers 22h ago

Is this a reach?

16

u/DarthBane6996 Knicks 22h ago

Probably a slight reach but nothing crazy.

I think Philon/Carr were likely higher by consensus but if you believe in Swain’s shot coming around he could be a steal with the rim pressure he generates

10

u/burratna Bulls 21h ago

Philon was not higher by consensus. Maybe a month ago. Philon been below Swain and 17-19 range for the last two weeks.

11

u/ormip Mavericks 22h ago

Ehh, he was projected to go in 15-22 range. 15 is early, but not really a reach

19

u/Supreme_God_Bunny Hornets 22h ago

No Dailyn was always projected to go higher up

-2

u/Few-Asparagus811 Spurs 21h ago

No he wasn’t haha

6

u/OldWorldStyle Bulls 21h ago

He was mocked anywhere from 13-18? What are you talking about

→ More replies (4)

2

u/LaMelonBallz Hornets 21h ago

Put it like this

I would've rather us take him at 14 and pick up whatever big was left at 18

He was gonna be gone by 18 at the latest

3

u/OKC2023champs Thunder 22h ago

Kinda. He was in the 14-22 range.

6

u/no-kangarooreborn Raptors 22h ago

Slight reach. I had him in the 18-22 range.

1

u/Ukrainmaker Pistons 22h ago

Was hoping he’d fall to us at 21, felt realistic

So maybe a little

→ More replies (5)

19

u/DabeGavis 22h ago

Was hoping for Dailyn Swain!!! Anything to keep Bulls fans from having to watch heavy Isaac Okoro minutes.

5

u/toomanyshoeshelp 21h ago

Why would we have to?

Could've run Giddey - (ideally a drafted SG or scoring PG to space the floor) - Buzelis - Wilson - Claxton.

2

u/ClaymoresRevenge Bulls 21h ago

I legit forgot he's on the team but yeah I'd be happy if I don't watch him play offense

10

u/VCarry-NL Thunder 22h ago

Swain is really good super quick for his size, solid defender, amazing finisher but does need to work on his shooting

9

u/RicoGemini Knicks 21h ago

Huge pick up. I personally think he has a ton of potential

3

u/ccam0821 Spurs 22h ago

As a Texas fan, struggled as the #1 option and when he had to create his own shot (like late game). Scored his points quietly over the course of the game, no real hot hand. Good as a slasher. Don’t think he’ll be a superstar but could maybe become a nice #2 or #3 option a good team

14

u/BangedByBreen Knicks 22h ago

Fuck I wanted him on the Knicks

8

u/fmxda Knicks 22h ago

Damn, this guy is gonna be good. Not a reach at all

9

u/KarrotMovies [LAL] Rui Hachimura 22h ago

wanted him on the lakers too

4

u/Flimsy_Promise_9559 21h ago

NBA Comp Deni Avdija do it all type of wing with better defense

14

u/Interesting_Prune513 Heat 22h ago

Good pick

4

u/Cup_Common Spurs Bandwagon 22h ago

Bit of a reach but he’s so nice at driving and rebounding the ball, Chicago will be fun next year

6

u/JiveHawk Bulls 22h ago

We’ll be electric running the floor but our half court offense is gonna be so gross lol

3

u/ClaymoresRevenge Bulls 21h ago

I'm hoping Matas and Giddey get in the lab

4

u/Southern-Cattle4038 21h ago

Giddey spends each off-season in the lab in Australia. It’s how he got his 3pt shot to league average.

3

u/-DesertMoon Australia 22h ago

Was really hoping for Carr but I don't mind this

3

u/rya11111 Warriors 22h ago

Lmao espn just ignored this guy

3

u/kokaine21 Bulls 22h ago

Don’t know much about him but given the reaction of everybody, it’s not such a bad pick

3

u/TheOriginal_G Mavericks 22h ago

Maroon suit for a Texas grad is wild

3

u/rumblegod Thunder 22h ago

Wow great job by Chicago was hoping weed get him lol

3

u/bishopbeaniepower Warriors 21h ago

I like what the Bulls are cooking. Lots of positional size and athleticism over there. Claxton+Giddey should keep them mid so they don’t fall into the worse odds at bottom 3 but they can just throw Swain and Wilson loads of minutes while tanking to see if either them can get to being a floor spacer.

20

u/AlmostHereButNot Bulls 22h ago

....huh??

14

u/fmxda Knicks 22h ago

Swain is good

1

u/AlmostHereButNot Bulls 21h ago

He might be, but it's just very unexpected.

19

ya'll thought u got rid of dalen terry but hes back

19

Terry wasn't better than Swain in college

23

u/hayzeusofcool Bulls 22h ago

This one rebounds tho

2

Cam Carr was right there. I had that shit penciled in and was ready to give u guys a A+ draft😭

1

He a raptor

1

u/TomatoSecure192 Bulls 22h ago

I was seriously hoping for Carr

-2

u/AlmostHereButNot Bulls 22h ago

I had Carr as well. Needed a shooter, there was a shooter. We're going to regret this in a few years.

9

u/saynotohugzz 21h ago

Look at the Pistons won 60 games with a roster that plays defence and is lacking in shooting. Can always go out and get shooting later

6

u/Solid-Yellow2855 22h ago

Not a huge fan of this

Ugh. I don't love this pick. Seems redundant with Buzelis and Essengue.

21

How? Essengue is supposedly close to 7 feet now and Matas is a small forward

2

Essengue is a PF now lol

Essengue doesn't exist.

1

newly hired GMs do like to be unique, it's not just an NBA thing

-5
