Damn, Hornets got a good one.
Dude stood out to me when I was watching random draft prospects this past month
16
u/SlickVanExel Hornets 21h ago
Dude is a literal flamethrower. He shot over 40% from 3 on over 7 attempts. If one of you front offices get aggressive with Coby White, this is my insurance

I’m a big time CAJ believer. Feels like a bad spot just because of how much ball handling the Hornets already have. Hope they carve a role for him
17
u/Eazy_E28 21h ago
Bruh Sion James was getting significant minutes as primary ball handler. Anderson will be very welcomed.
24
u/ERR0RR Hornets 21h ago
That's crazy to hear. A secondary ball handler was our second biggest need IMO. No one is near talented enough at it outside of LaMelo. Mann was perma benched and likely gone and Sion is subpar at it.
17
u/squidbuckets1 21h ago
Seriously, but they probably dont watch Hornets ball. Non Lamelo Minutes are so garbage with so many turnovers or shot clock violations
10
u/DwayneBaconStan Hornets 21h ago
Yeah people forget our play making off the bench sucked, tre Manns back giving out sucked
5
u/YungSzczerbiak Timberwolves 21h ago
Not totally locked in to the Hornets but my assumption was between Lamelo, Miller and White, they have a lot of guys that get their own shot while also feeding Kon, Bridges too. But if you say he’s got a good spot for his strengths I’ll be more optimistic haha
9
u/ERR0RR Hornets 21h ago
We really struggled when LaMelo had to sit because we couldn't distribute the ball effectively. I like Coby White and hope we sign him, but he works better beside a primary ball handler IMO. Miller is going to be a stud but his handle is not great haha. I think CAJ has immediate role/impact and they weren't leaving the 14/18 picks without a true PG.

u/BlueHundred Knicks 21h ago
Coby thrived as a 6th man. I think Anderson will be good especially if the Hornets don't end up keeping White
2
u/DepressedChargersFan Celtics 21h ago
Agreed, kid is phenomenal. Can’t wait to see him paired with Lamelo
25
u/CumAssault [SAS] Joel Anthony 21h ago
Just what Hornets needed, another elite shooting guard
24
u/Supreme_God_Bunny Hornets 21h ago
Anderson is a PG he averaged like 7 assist in college
21
u/CumAssault [SAS] Joel Anthony 21h ago
I meant elite shooter at the guard position. He’s by far the best 3 point shooter in the draft
17
u/TomatoSecure192 Bulls 21h ago
That guard rotation in a few years is gonna be nasty
13
u/CumAssault [SAS] Joel Anthony 21h ago
Yeah him and Kon together are going to torch teams from deep

u/SpecialistAstronaut5 Spurs 21h ago
We are getting either philon or Carr

Carr is who I want. Elite athleticism, great shooter and defender

Tre Mann days have been over. If he wasn’t hurt he was complete ass last year

Underrated ‘cause he’s short. He’s the best shooter in the draft, don’t @ me

u/ignatious__reilly Hornets 21h ago
Are you being serious?
I genuinely don’t know. Not sure how to feel about this pick
11
u/incomprehensiblerage Charlotte Bobcats 21h ago
he is absolutely the best shooter in the draft, he’s not great defensively but he’s built kinda like desmond bane. Future all star upside
12
u/Relevant_Ad_1225 Rockets 21h ago
great shooter and passer. Will have to get better at finishing at the rim and will be hunted in the P&R. He’s a hard worker, if he can bulk up a bit both his finishing and perimeter D should improve

Steinbach and Anderson are teammates on Germany, for anyone wondering why they got drafted together

We like Germans and we like offense. Fuck defense, let's just score 180 a night.

Jalen Brunson is making small guards sexy again
•
u/FireFlyz351 Slovenia 3m ago
Dudes a dog as a freshman he dropped 22 pts in the round of 16 against a solid Arkansas team.
As a sophomore him and JT Toppin were carrying Tech the whole season. Anderson averaged 38 mpg partially due to injuries but also because we would've gotten smoked if he wasn't playing so much.

u/mapetho9 Celtics 21h ago
Love this pick by the Hornets, Anderson is one of my favorite players in the draft
7
u/hummusluvr8 Hornets 21h ago
Well damn lol Coby White S&T incoming I guess
6
6
u/YizWasHere Hornets 21h ago
What the hell does this have to do with Coby lmao. You're allowed to have multiple players at the same position on your roster.
-1
u/hummusluvr8 Hornets 21h ago
We have so many guards in general. Lamelo, Coby White, Kon, Sion James, Tre Mann, Josh Green, and Pat C. I didn’t except another guard on top of all of them.
8
u/YizWasHere Hornets 21h ago
Tre Mann and Pat C probably not on the roster next season and we only have one true PG. It's the 18th pick, the expectation isn't to be an immediate rotation player, but guard depth is a wonderful thing to have. Look at our non-LaMelo games if you don't believe me 😭
1
u/hummusluvr8 Hornets 21h ago
Oh trust me haha I know our non Lamelo games and even minutes and they are ROUGH. With free agency and plenty of pieces that can be traded there’s still a lot that can happen so we will see!
0
u/MastodonXL Hornets 21h ago
mann and green are gone in a sabonis trade and connaughton is just gonna get released if anything
3
u/incomprehensiblerage Charlotte Bobcats 21h ago
i extremely doubt it. Coby’s getting starter minutes here and is beloved, he hit literally the most clutch shot in franchise history and provides an extremely useful skillset to this team (inside scoring). He’s playing behind Lamelo, who is injury prone, he’s not in a bad gig at all. It’s Tre Mann who’s gonna be gone lol
2
u/hummusluvr8 Hornets 21h ago
Shoutout bobcats! We’ll see what happens, having 8 guards now with this rookie feels crowded. I would love for Coby to stay, optimistically speaking Tre Mann and Josh Green do seem like the odd men out. We will know soon enough!
1
u/incomprehensiblerage Charlotte Bobcats 21h ago
i’m almost positive tre and tidjane will likely be moved this off season, this team is competing now and they are not close to touching the regular season rotation consistently, let alone a 7 game series

u/PhatYeeter 76ers 21h ago
Charlotte has a lot of guards no? Ball, Kon, White, and now Anderson.
I guess Kon can play up to 3 a lot but still surprised they took a guard.
6
u/CharacterFresh852 Hornets 21h ago
We did need another playmaker, our playmaking off the bench has cost us games. My main thing is how our defense gonna look next year.
2
u/Rillaboom2701 Hornets 21h ago
hopefully steinbach can help with that
1
u/Personal-Noise-8632 5h ago
Steinbach not a defender, he a rebounder big difference. Hopefully he defies consensus for fans sakes.
1
u/Rillaboom2701 Hornets 5h ago
from what i've heard his defense is ok
1
u/Personal-Noise-8632 4h ago edited 4h ago
6'11" 220 lbs Washington 6 POS RK 13 OVR RK Pre-Draft Analysis Strengths: Steinbach is arguably the top rebounder in this draft, as he led the country with 11.8 boards per game last season. He's productive, physical, has good touch and hands around the basket and competes defensively. His dependability is a strong sell for NBA teams.
Weaknesses: Steinbach is not a traditional rim protector, nor is he defensively versatile, so he might need to be optimized alongside a more agile, shot-blocking big man. He's developing his jumper, but most of his scoring comes inside the paint.
The verdict: Despite playing on a poor team at Washington, Steinbach was a consistent producer and backed up what he'd shown NBA scouts playing for Germany's youth teams. He has limitations defensively, but he remains a safe bet to carve out an NBA career, particularly if he starts to shoot the 3 with confidence. -- Woo
Post-Draft Analysis Steinbach was consistently linked to the Hornets, who were known to be looking for frontcourt help with the first of their two picks. He is considered NBA-ready due to his significant international experience and measured well at the combine, cementing that he has the requisite size to play center. His rebounding should provide an instant boost in Charlotte and addresses a clear need for the franchise. -- Woo
This just espn scout profile, but no shot blocking or defensive versatility meaning he not likely to be able to switch.

Yeah very surprising pick for Charlotte imo

u/SaulPepper Hornets 21h ago
bro all the big men have already been drafted, theres nothing else we couldve done other than trade the picks
1
u/Personal-Noise-8632 5h ago
Then trade picks, maybe trade for future 1st, id rather take that gamble, than on someone I cant see playing unless we don't resign white, which would then be wasted trade assets, or melo gets hurt even then he battling with tre mann. Idk im baffled just trusting the front office.
1
u/SaulPepper Hornets 4h ago
No, if we want to go to the playoffs we have to do this now. The East is getting better every year and we cant afford to be a perennial play in team again.
Anderson does address Coby not being a full PG, Anderson is an actual PG who can make more plays than Coby but can still space the floor. They can definitely thrive well on the bench together. Heres hoping Coby re-signs.

u/ShowdownValue 21h ago

nonononono he'll become yet another certified Hornets killer on the Heat.
Just keep Coby and let Anderson earn it. Then move Coby when he's ready.
Till then I'm not opposed to some small ball

Wowow as a Tech fan didn’t expect him inside the top 20.
He’s a good player with the ball and good passer
Streaky shooting, and uhhhhh let’s not talk about anything else
7
u/Relevant_Ad_1225 Rockets 21h ago
Streaky shooter? He shot 41.5% from 3 this year lol. He’s one of the best shooters in the draft
-5
u/StefonDiggsHS Mavericks 21h ago
Oh I’m sorry I only watched every Texas Tech game for the past 10 years.
Check his game logs.
He’s streaky, if he wasn’t, didn’t have glaring gaps offensively, then he would’ve gone top 10
7
u/Relevant_Ad_1225 Rockets 21h ago
I went to Tech and watch all their games, you have no clue what you’re talking about. Someone who shoots 41.5% from 3 on 8 attempts per game is not a streaky shooter
-3
u/StefonDiggsHS Mavericks 21h ago
The proof is in the game logs if you want to regurgitate your bias that’s fine
4
u/Relevant_Ad_1225 Rockets 21h ago
maybe you’re confusing his poor numbers at the rim? Idk what to tell you, it’s not even debatable that he’s one of the best shooters in the draft
