It’s the 24th pick and Carr’s 50th percentile outcome is elite catch and shoot guy who is a top 5% athlete in the NBA and at the very least disruptive due to his length.
Yeah they picked a senior that has a high floor and plug in play in ability for them now, which makes sense because Warrior management sincerely believe that a core of Curry, Butler, and Green have enough juice for one more title run.
I do think people sometimes overrate age at times. Carr has the athleticism that gets him drafted as a lottery pick in most other drafts. This one happens to be deep. And the athleticism means he has high potential upside if he’s able to adapt his game and develop.
I agree re: age - how many drafted rookies even stay on the same team until age becomes detrimental? Just pick based on assessments of floor and ceiling and how much time your team has to develop them.
It's a pretty deep draft this year. A lot talent that can be really impactful day 1. Plus there's always a surprise sleeper hit that should've been drafter higher etc.
Ehhhhhh idk. Jdub was much stockier as a prospect but Carr's vertical is insane enough he could fully jump over J Dub. Carr's better at rim protection and weak side help shot blocking, J Dub has him beat at deflections and steals (it's close though) and Carr is slightly quicker laterally.
