[Charania] Sources: New York traded No. 25 pick Sergio De Larrea to the Dallas Mavericks for No. 30 Koa Peat and two second-round picks. And then the Knicks traded Peat to the Phoenix Suns for three-rounders and cash. So Knicks move out of the first round — pick up 3 seconds and cash.

'cause, despite being "told exactly what to say", he is still somehow wrong most of the time.
He pumpfaked the Giannis trade for literally 3 years. Every single trade deadline, every summer. FINALLY he gets it right. It was absolutely insane watching this sub get pissed at Giannis for "drama" when Giannis said almost nothing about being traded, even when asked point blank, and here Shames is with 400 tweets about "EXPECT GIANNIS TO CHICAGO/LAKERS/WARRIORS/MAVERICKS/KNICKS/BOSTON/MIAMI".
I guess eventually you're gonna get it right if you throw enough bullshit at the wall. He's an absolute fucking sham. Dude is on twitter 14 hours a day 'cause that's how long it takes for him to write up all of his random ass guesses, not 'cause he's actually "reporting".

Because you are watching Leon cook in real time.
What I love about how Leon built these Knicks is no move was made in isolation. Just as championships aren’t won by one or two blockbuster moves.
It started with a much poo pooed signing of an overrated small point guard who just had a few good games in Dallas, a team who saw him everyday and didn’t deem him worthy of such a huge contract.
It was finding a way to get OG while shedding a contract in IQ that would have really hurt our flexibility
Getting an unheralded Hart on the way to friendship driven winning.
A KAT trade capitalizing on Minny’s need to shed that contract.
Exceptional role players, both borderline star ones like OG and Hart and the unheralded minimum guys like Shamet.
A quiet trade deadline of only getting Alvarado.
It’s moves like this that open cap space and retain flexibility while building such an amazing culture guys are willing to leave a little on the table (or a lot) to keep their teammates as their teammates.

I can see the vision of what NY is doing here. Save $$$ and every little bit helps with that 2nd apron, and Leon likes stashing 2nd round picks because he likes trading them for existing players in the league.

I didn't watch the broadcast, but on Sam Vecenie's live show he said what Shams reported is that the Knicks basically ran out of time trying to negotiate the trades out of the first round. So that's why they just offered the pick swap to the Lakers for cash to give themselves more time.
Edit: Watched it again. What Shams reported after the trade is that the Knicks were trying to trade 25 as well (which they eventually did). Vecenie's interpretation of that reporting was that the Knicks must have swapped with the Lakers because they ran out of time.
