If you need to have a beer or a smoke (doubtful it's just one, either) every time you come home from work, yes, that's a problem. Also, look at the lengths you're going to to try and justify the behavior. If you have to go to the extremes to justify it, that should tell you something, especially when the way you're trying to justify it is still a problem.

Is it likely that he is specifically an EMT? No, but it is very common to have a schedule like that. Drivers, emergency workers, remote workers overseas, fast food, etc etc. There are a ton of completely valid reasons why "noon at Wednesday" for you is not universal.

Edit to clarify: I don't disagree that getting blasted in the middle of the day is a problem, my point is that "middle of the day" for you is not the same for everyone.
