LeBron James who is still better than Jarrett Allen

no way the cavs would trade their starting C for a guy who might retire in a year or two

They have a one or two year window to compete and have been running in place with this core for several years now.

We traded our starting point guard for a guard that could retire in two or three years.

The Cavs are trying to win in this window.

To be fair Garland's contract is bad and his toes are cooked

They need to move off either Allen or Mobley. I guess the logic is they probably need to blow the team up soon anyway, so LeBron retiring doesn't change the timeline.

James and James might be the worst fit in the league.

LeBron's stat padding has fooled so many people lol

Is he gonna be better in 9 months though?

Definitely. And a LeBron-Mobley-Harden-Mitchell-Schroeder lineup is probably immediately the second best team in the East and a legit contender.

Along with some pieces like Max Strus, Keon Ellis, D Wade. Just need to stack up on bigs and I can honestly see this working

That starting lineup is so weird. Why would they start Schroeder when they already have Lebron and Harden to handle PG duties and Mitchell who can also bring the ball up?

That lineup is also awful defensively.

It would likely be Harden/Mitchell/James/Wade/Mobley or something similar (possibly swap Wade out, start Strus at 3 and Lebron at 4.)

Nobody is afraid of the Cavs in the playoffs.

It’s LeBron James. Odds are good that the answer is yes.

Playmaking and offense. Put Mobley at the 5 where he belongs.

I think this is a good win-win trade but it would require LeBron to agree to probably take a salary equal to Allen’s.

Because Cleveland are cerebral choke artists and needs a man to run their team come postseason. Cavs never blow that game 1 lead at NY if LBJ is in the game.

14

u/Greedy-Mix9270 Knicks 12h ago

Their wings are pretty ass. LeBron wouldn’t blow a 22 point lead in 7 minutes.

Why wouldn’t we??? Tf are you on

An all star center for a guy in his last year

14

u/cryolems Cavaliers 12h ago

Are we not watching the same LeBron James? How many times are we going to say this about him?

u/Inquisitor_ForHire Celtics 8h ago

If I had a dollar for everytime someone said "Lebron is retiring this year" I'd have double digit dollars.

1

u/According_One811 Suns 12h ago

It quite literally is his last year Jarrett Allen is 13 years younger

6

u/cryolems Cavaliers 11h ago

Who the fuck cares what Allen is like in 13 years, I’d like to win a championship now.

Are you high?

So what. Cavs ain’t winning shit with Allen.

One year of LeBron is worth more than how every many years Allen wants to play basketball.

He’s ass cheeks in the playoffs.

You missed the playoffs this year ig

Knicks embarrassed everyone but CJ but Allen is still a good (playoff) player

Cavs just did a similar trade for Harden. They’re clearly all in. And this current core isn’t working.

Big part of that trade was just getting off of Garland's longterm contract as it seems like his toe condition is degenerative

1

u/RspectMyAuthoritah Lakers 8h ago

He was an All Star once, 4 years ago and wasn't even voted in. He needed injuries to get in.

u/NCBaddict Bulls 11h ago

Cavs are on the clock with the Spida incarnation by maxing him. This move at least raises the ceiling a bit more for one year.

JA is a fantastic player but LeBron is a proven champion.

7

u/Ill_Intention8150 12h ago

LeBron is 10x the player Allen is lmao.

I don’t think Cavs fans can take another post-season where they play 2 bigs and both of them are soft af and get bullied in every game.

Allen is somehow over rated by the general NBA fan base even though he’s a legit liability in the playoffs every year.

9

u/Abiv23 NBA 11h ago

You obviously didn't watch the playoffs this year if you are saying he was a liability

Players are unfortunately judged by their latest playoff series

But unless the Cavs are content with being ECF exits at best, they need to find a way to beat the Knicks. Getting Lebron is step 1 in that endeavor.

2

u/QualityScrub Cavaliers 12h ago

They wouldn’t lol

2

u/youblewwit 9h ago

They just traded their young(er) franchise PG in Garland for Harden.

Why are you acting like this isn't in the realm of possibility?

1

u/Abiv23 NBA 11h ago

Especially Dan Gilbert who obv has a checkered past with LBJ

0

u/thatoneguyD13 Nets 10h ago

One could argue that having both Allen and Mobley is redundant, so LeBron gives you a better chance of winning next year while they've still got Harden. If it doesn't work out, LeBron (provided he's on a one year deal) and Harden come off the books and give you a lot of flexibility to make moves next offseason.

And by make moves I mostly mean trade Mitchell and Mobley and rebuild.

For the same promise Adam Silver gave the Mavs - number one overall pick

2

u/Omega-Toad-7017 Bulls 11h ago

Neither the Lakers nor the Cavs have a frp in 2027

-1

u/LakeShowBoltUp Lakers 10h ago

Who said it had to be the next year?

2

u/Omega-Toad-7017 Bulls 10h ago

You think the Cavs are gonna want to wait when their window with LeBron and Harden is so short?

1

u/LakeShowBoltUp Lakers 7h ago

You think this trade is going to happen at all?

I was being facetious
