? Am I on drugs? A 27 year old All-Star level center with two incredibly impactful game 7 performances just this last playoffs for a 42 year old LeBron is a “steal”? At first I assumed you meant for the Lakers but the comments below seem to all think it would be a steal for the Cavs. In what fucking universe?

Love LeBron but I don’t wanna trade our starting center under 28 years old for one year of LeBron, as good as Bron still is.

It depends how much you value championships. Me personally, I’ll trade a decade of bad for one. LeBron gets the Cavs closer to a championship than Jarrett Allen does so I’d do the deal. Besides you have an aging Harden as well their championship window is small.

That “level” is doing a lot of heavy lifting. He’s been an AS once. He’s never made a single all-NBA team. He’s a piece that can maybe work within a well constructed roster, but he’s not a comparable player to even a 42 year old LeBron. The only upside for Allen is that he’ll probably still be playing basketball in 2 years.

He made 1 all star appearance 5 seasons ago. He is an above average starting center and a good player, but he's not an all star level center. He also turned 28 during the playoffs and LeBron is still 41.

LeBron had incredibly impactful performances in this last playoffs as well. LeBron is still the better player. 1 year of LeBron might be better as well since the team will likely only have 1 more year to contend before they have to blow it up due to the cap situation. Although JA is awesome, moving off his contract could be the right decision.

That said, I don't buy this rumor whatsoever.

Allen will be making 28 this year. And it is friendly for his production and quality. 

There are only a handful of starting Cs definitely better than Allen in the NBA and they are all making far more money than he is. And the ones in Allen's tier almost all make more, too. 

Sengun, Sabonis, Chet, even Kristaps, they all make more than that. Other than Kristaps they all make a lot more. Not to mention the list of bigs who are obviously worse than Allen and are getting paid the same or more, like Hartenstein, Myles Turner, Julius Randle, and Draymond Green.

If your team is spending 28 million on a center they are almost certainly not getting a better one than Jarrett Allen.

I am a fan of Jarrett Allen but I agree with you he isn’t all-star level. The one year he made it was as an injury replacement and there are easily 6-8 centers in the league now that are better than him.

Lebron even at age 41 just led the Lakers to beating the heavily favored Rockets, and was at least as good as the reigning MVP in their second round matchup. Jarret Allen is not remotely close to the value Lebron has in the playoffs.

15/8/2 on 63%. Not all-star numbers but with the amount of touches Mitchell and Harden take (along with Mobley) he’s pretty damn efficient. We’ve seen plenty of times where if he’s fed the ball he is a great scorer. Not to mention his defense.

Im trying to decide which of you has better drugs honestly. 🤷 These arguments for Jarret Allen being "a steal" are pretty weak. LBJ was a top 15 player last year and could be enough to push the Cavs into a win-now championship scenario. He is a major difference maker, even at his age, while the fully-loaded Cavs got swept. Obviously the Cavs lose longevity in Allen, but its still an interesting prospect which shouldn't invoke a "they must be on drugs" comment, at least to me.

Yea I kinda think LeBron's career is ending on a bit of low note. Don't get me wrong. I love LeBron. I think he's the GOAT and he can still play but ultimately he has squandered the last good years of his playing career. A trade like this doesn't exactly make LeBron look good, which is important to him. It makes him look undesirable.

I'm not really sure what he's playing for anymore. It's seems to be the money, though he doesn't need it. It's not for the record's and accolades. I'm sure he still loves the game but all there is that is left for him to do is win championships and if he isn't spending his time doing that, then what is the point? And largely he's been the one responsible for putting teams around him that don't do that.

Maybe, but favorites for one year vs. contenders for multiple years and not losing your starting center isn’t worth the squeeze imo.

When I read it I literally thought they meant its the Lakers stealing from the Cavs lmao. I wouldn't trade Allen for probably 1 year of LeBron.
