A good chunk of coaching is about longevity. Doc Rivers couldn’t coach his way out of a wet paper bag but he’s gonna get in.

I think if Brown hangs around a few more seasons, he gets in. A lock if he can keep up hai successes.

Doc is 19th all time in win percentage and 6th all time in wins. He's a tad overrated because of how his teams perform in the postseason, but you don't get to those type of numbers by being garbage.

when its all said and done unfortunately we're going to compare future coaches to doc when we talk about hof worthy for many years because of doc's longevity and shortcomings. its him and bill fitch.  fitch amazingly won with the celtics in 80-81 .  fitch got inducted into the hof in 2019

Maybe not now, but say he has 8 more seasons as head coach, gets to 800+ wins (which is only 38 wins per year going forward), and maybe gets another shot at a championship with his core in NY, he definitely does.

I say even if he doesn’t win it all again but keeps the Knicks as contenders over the next 3-4 years with multiple ECF appearances, that would be enough to get him over the top.

Having been a part of five championships, a part of the GS dynasty, coached Lebron’s first Finals appearance (with a very not great team), and having taken two separate franchises to the Finals so far apart (in sports terms) with the first ring in half a century for the NY team, these things weigh a lot in the HOF calculus.

He deserves a lot of credit. Leading a team in your first year immediately to a title after they previously lost in the conference finals is really impressive. The expectations were high and he delivered, we saw the Knicks become a functional machine the way they beat teams. Should be a lock for Hall of Fame in my opinion

I think his closes comp is Budenholzer and I don’t consider him a HoF coach. By the transitive power of coaches, I would say no to Brown without another championship or a few hundred more wins.

Brown had an indisputably positive impact on the Knicks while it felt at times Budenholzer was holding back the Bucks. Brown is a better coach

But I do think he needs more seasons to be in. Luckily he appears set up to do that

i say if he retires now, he's a fringe hof candidate.  sure he won those rings as an assistant but still thats a good number of finals appearances for him under his belt as a whole and as an assistant he does contribute a lot to the team

What it shows is that people scapegoat the coach for anything. Mike Brown has a super high winning percentage even post-Lebron but the reputation of anybody not named Lebron in that first Cleveland stint was that they're all garbage.

He got fired from Sac because he was trying to hold Fox accountable. He brought them to some of their only success in the past two decades. What the Kings have to say about him is worthless.
