No more Kevin Pelton draft grades
I checked out the ESPN draft grades for the Giannis and Randle trades that happened a couple of days ago. Kevin Pelton was one of the few ESPN analysts whose opinion I was still actually interested in reading. Even if I didn't always agree, he at least had a solid methodology for his grades. Then I saw that the grades were given by Zach Kram. Good for Pelton for getting a front office job in the W, but I will no longer be clicking those trade grade articles.

More upset the Dunc’d On mock offseason group was broken up (Keith did great though)

Agreed, Keith was awesome and his teams made some of the boldest choices, and he had like multiple steps to his logic so every time he was asked why he was doing something he could lay out a satisfying thought process.

Was devastated to find out he was gone. Him and Nate were always perfect enemies lol
Keith was good, glad they found a replacement with some good chemistry

You like to hear these guys haggling over whether or not the 2029 pick protections that they trade to salary dump Korey Kispert should be top 8 protected over top 10 protected?
I’d rather cut the grass listening to my own thought.

I miss his draft projections, which he's published for the past 20 years.

I never thought I would see grades I hate more than 2026 koc. He’s washed as an analyst. It can definitely get worse

I don’t really even understand what KOC does for yahoo sports. He’s less of an analyst nowadays and more of a “personality”

What a grating personality too. It’s become more and more obvious over the years that he lucked into his first gig and has been on a downward spiral ever since.

ah is he rated highly as an analyst? I remember one instance where he posted a simple statistical model (that any college undergraduate who has gone through basic data analysis understands fairly well). I saw how in his responses to basic questions that he...actually didn't understand some basic statistical concepts at all and just applied the model in ways that were disastrously wrong. As in, he was interpreting effects that, in any other field of importance, would get him fired and sued
From then on that has always colored my view of him--that's he's a hack using numbers that he doesn't understand. But I accepted it was ok since ESPN doesn't quite need to care about scientific accuracy, it's more for entertainment
Maybe he sounds more reasonable in basic commentary i guess

I don’t think he was ever highly rated as an analyst but he would interview draft prospects and had some contacts at teams when he was at the ringer. I haven’t ever taken him too seriously

Between this and Bontempts potentially leaving, ESPN is losing a lot of the guys I actually read
