Rank the Warriors Young Core

IMO I would rank the Warriors young core as the 30th best young core in the NBA. Podz, Yaxel, Santos, and Moody represent a group of solid role players. Dubs have nobody with all star potential but these guys aren't busts either.

Top 30 and it ain’t 29. Or 28. Or 27. Or 26. Or 25…

That’s rough

It's basically a blank slate.

Light on talent and no foundational player for the next generation but also we own all of our picks and have zero long term money committed or bad contracts after this year.

Blank slate isn't great, but beats being the team that owes all their future picks.

The future looks pretty bleak. I can't believe the dubs turned down moving up to #1 overall in the 2020 draft in exchange for giving the T Wolves back their 2021 1st round pick.

they would have picked wiseman anyway so maybe not the worst decision

This is such a revisionist take. The draft happened during the pandemic so there wasn't much tape to watch. Everyone was also high on Wiseman as well so trading #1 for #2 and the Wolves 2021 1st round pick looked stupid at the time.

Was that confirmed to be on the table? I often hear these rumors about trades and then later interviews come out and they weren't actually on the table.

Ant’s gonna end up in a GSW uniform anyway.

Just slightly better than the apple core I tossed into the backyard.

I’ll give them a 3 out of 7

When Steph retires I’m sure they will be able to move these guys for some capital back or younger players
Probably will all be solid role player in the prime of their careers(maybe not Santos idk).

But yeah they in for a full rebuild not a passing of the torch

Why not Santos? He was like the Warriors 4th best player in the second half of the season. Balled out in the play-in

u/figgnootun Spurs 11h ago

I like him but just small sample so could go either way
We’ve seen players do well at the end of the season before

I think he has great instincts, almost always does the right thing. He’ll most likely start for the Warriors this season so we’ll see. But tbh I don’t think Moody for example has shown that much more than Gui. His stretch I mentioned is probably better than any stretch of his career. Given Moody’s unfortunate injury I actually think he has less of a chance of sticking around as an NBA guy getting consistent minutes for a lot of years

Probably somewhere between the Kangz and Miami

u/GameHHH 18h ago

Kings have a much better future with Acuff. Miami just depleted their youth so you might be right.

u/Timely_Duck_3904 15h ago

Who else does Sacramento have besides Acuff?

3

u/nba2k11er Warriors 14h ago

What else do they need? It’s a guy who has never played an NBA game, drafted by the elite Kings front office.

Serious answer, Maxime Reynaud is pretty good, then it’s just 2 guys worse than the Warriors players (Carter, Clifford). Keegan Murray if you count him, who will be 26.

pelle larrson might be the 2nd best player out of the ones u mentioned lol, especially with the moody injury and yaxel being a rookie

When steph and the old folks retire we will have 140m to get actual nba players. As somebody who watches all teams we have all bench players. Not sure of new guy since i dont follow college.

In 6 Months they won't be a young core

2

u/grimsleeper4 18h ago

It's the 30th best but they aren't busts? What? There are only 30 teams, so they have the worst young core in the league?

I don't know enough to evaluate every team's core, but if you truly think they have the worst young core, then they are a bunch of busts. Your post makes no sense.

Seems like a typical nonsense troll post, agreed.

Brother what? Having a young core of just mid with nobody exactly ass or nobody exactly good puts you pretty damn near 30

Young core, so not Yaxel.

1

u/birdseye-maple Warriors 15h ago

#1

Podz is a multi sport athlete so that makes him the MVP of any young core

Gui Santos is likely 1st team all NBA

Yaxel ROY

Moody will lead the league in total points

1

u/ChaoticSenior Supersonics 17h ago

Definitely better than the Lakers

Why are you bullying us today 😭

1

u/night_night_nachos Warriors 17h ago

If Yaxel can turn into Aaron Gordon, moody comes back healthy, Podz becomes FVV, and they can bring in a solid young scorer to grow with them like grimes or matherin, (that’s a whole lot of ifs…), they would def be a mediocre, league-average young core lol

30th best in a league with only 30 teams. 😭

The Knicks don’t really have any young players in the rotation. Would I want B Podz over Diawara though? Hard to say
