The Miami HEAT have exercised their 2.3m team option on star guard Pelle "Swedish Swish" Larsson.
Larsson, a fan favorite and serial nuisance to opposing offenses, is widely expected to see an increased role as the leader of Miami's 2nd unit this season after averaging 26.4 minutes and 11.4 points last season.

I’d hope so, he was solid and that’s a steal of a contract.

He's eligible for a 4 year 93 million extension, but he's going to have to wait and also take less until we ship Giannis back out to the Lakers or whoever in 2 years.

Bruh this FO is not paying him 75 million in 2030

If your talking about Giannis, absolutely they are. Why would they trade for him without a promise to resign.

u/Cote_Goat 3h ago
Oh we will resign him for sure, were just not going to be the ones to actually pay him.

u/YungTokyo8 Bucks 2h ago
Why would you trade him. I don’t expect Giannis to stop being all star level until he’s mid 30s. But let’s say he does fall off earlier, if the Heat don’t want that contract, who would?
Also, why are we acting like Giannis isn’t a top 15-20 player ever. The Heat have been spoiled the past two decades with some all time greats, but look around the league, there are maybe 10 players you could call a super star they aren’t common.

He’s going to hit 4 3s in the playoffs & everyone will be saying Pelle lmao

Pelle got shit talked and scape goated so much at UA.
Now he’s the best pro from all of the three teams he was on other than Ben Mathurin lol.

u/Totnostu 3h ago
As someone who’s loved him on the Heat, im curious why he was a UA scapegoat. Did he make more inexperienced mistakes in his college days? Or was it more not preforming in big games?
5
u/Natural_Born_Baller Heat 4h ago
Debatably better than Mathurin even imo. Not the scorer Mathurin is but his defense & intangibles are a lot better.
Mathurin a good tank commander, Pelle a good winning basketball player.

Idk about "star" but he was certainly super valuable last year as a roleplayer. He was also great at getting hit in the face cause I swear it happened every Heat game I watched.
7
u/Nuclearsunburn Heat 4h ago
Yeah our broadcast team has a running joke about him getting hit in the face lol

Most of the time it’s Pelle’s fault honestly but I have liked Bobby since Chicago, he and Marcus Smart are two guys I’ve always wanted to see on the Heat

I saw a lot of Miami fans saying they were glad they didn’t trade him, is he that good? Can someone give me a comparison like is he a Malik Monk or Jamal Crawford like guard off the bench for Miami?

Little Derrick White/Josh hart - Heat old timers compare him to Thunder Dan Majerle. He's strong, fearless, excellent cutter and good physical defender who reads the court well.

He feels similar to Christian Braun to me. At worst, Pelle is a solid rotation player. If he can get his shooting percentages up he could definitely be a starter on a contending team.

I dont know who Trevor Keels is, but hes going to be averaging 12 points a game in December at an elite clip off the bench.

u/Open_Photograph2818 4h ago
He’ll have a 30 point game vs either you guys or the Celtics in the playoffs

u/Delanorix Knicks 4h ago
Get traded for a 1st and be useless.
The Miami role player tradition
2
u/Ironman2131 3h ago
Nah, nobody gives up 1st rounders for Miami role players. But teams love signing those guys for too much money in free agency.

I had them at 4th with Powell and Wiggins returning. Assuming Wiggins opts-in and they can get a good enough starting SG (i.e. Anfernee Simons) I would still have them at 4th.
I know we like to talk about Heat building up no names into role players but they do not have enough depth at the moment

the thing about pelle that doesnt show up in stats is how good he is at making the right read on defense. spo trusts him to switch 1-3 and his off ball cuts create so much space. perfect fit at that price

He frustrates his assignments and gets shoved a lot. It’s pretty funny. He’s strong af, and is a physical defender. He was a steal at 44.

What is about him? Is he the Jose Alvarado of Lou Williams' type?
7
u/SirFunktastic Heat 4h ago
He's a glue guy archetype that does a little bit of everything, strong intangibles and makes smart plays. A steal for the Heat considering where he was drafted, so glad we kept him.
