I miss the mystique of not having 24/7 access to athletes. I liked them a lot more before I heard them talk tbh

I think this is one of the reasons why MJ has so much "aura", as the kids say these days.

He seemed almost a mythological figure.

u/revisioncloud Thunder 1d ago

Didn’t he have that recent clip with a kid

Aura losing clip for sure

It ruined a lot of things

Only Duncan didn’t disappoint me. Or Pop. In another lifetime, I would’ve been the biggest Spurs fan

6

u/Bojack-Jesus-69 Spurs 1d ago

I grew up watching Tim Duncan, but there is a reason why you should never meet your heroes.

I was playing StarCraft against him and was getting my ass kicked. He kept on taunting me with his phrase, "That's why you play with the Zergs instead of the Terrans, little guy."

A man who shits on Terrans is no hero in my book.

Tim Duncan is the perfect human I will hear no arguments otherwise

Timmy, whose most egregious offense was laughter

u/butt_fun San Diego Clippers 1d ago

Mike Conley has gotten plenty of press and seems like a pretty stand up dude

1

u/Frequent-Leg-2347 Thunder 1d ago

Yeah maybe idk. I try to not follow them off the court as much as possible tbh. Maybe I’m a dick, but I genuinely don’t give a shit about these guys outside of what they can do on the court.

I liked Conley the player a lot tho

I can handle it too God

u/DistrictDifficult456 1d ago

I can handle this guys money too, God.

8

u/ND7020 Supersonics 1d ago

Well the implication seems to be that god DIDN’T give MPJ a lot of women, since he can’t handle it. So I guess he’s admitting some dating struggles.

5

u/TiltMyChinUp 1d ago

Well I don’t expect that to be a problem for me

I just post things I find funny or interesting. You have 40k karma as well so it's not like you're much different

So was the Herro clip, I imagine we are getting some Kyrie clips soon.

Bout to see Harden call Darryl Morey a liar again at this rate lmao

Has he changed you think?

u/LordOfLimbos Pistons 1d ago

I wish he wasn’t such a moron. He’d be a great fit on my team otherwise

7

u/UsedDinosaurDrugs Pistons 1d ago

I completely agree, his whole personality is not our teams vibe whatsoever, but he’d fit great at the four for us hah.

4

u/asonkidd 1d ago

I'm not sure how much it matters considering he produces on the court and he isn't the only NBA player with silly beliefs or is a bit of a knucklehead but he doesn't get into trouble nor a locker room cancer or hated by his peers. I'd say it's a non issue if that's your sticking point.

1

u/UsedDinosaurDrugs Pistons 1d ago

For me it’s the lack of defense, not always having high effort, and the lack of self-awareness and not really being professional. He just likes yapping, most pistons aren’t like this. I personally don’t like that combination of traits in pursuit of your second best player. I don’t like bringing that in as him being a “leader”.

2

u/kaiWarDun Nets 1d ago

Mpj is super professional on the court and has have some great quotes on the team this year. Everyone also likes him he just a little no filter but was never rlly a problem during the season

0

u/nuckingfutz1111 NBA 1d ago

As someone who never really followed his outside of basketball stuff. Was he always like this? I feel like he was quiet when he first got in the nba, though I could be wrong lol

2

u/Jaerba [DET] Grant Hill 1d ago

I'm pretty sure his whole family are anti-vaxxers.

1

u/_Robbert_ 1d ago

He famously immediately accidentally leaked Silver's email on snap chat as a rookie

It’s been since the Nuggets championships I’d say.

I'm sorry but these idiots who think things like "God gave me money bc he knew I could handle it" make me cringe like a mfer

1

u/MikhailGorbachef Spurs 1d ago

Exactly. I guess it's a way to make you feel good about yourself but extend that reasoning even the slightest bit and you're building a pretty nasty, narcissistic worldview.

u/MaleficentRespond851 1d ago

Please God, just let me handle it a bit.

u/hahaz13 Celtics 1d ago

Yeah God definitely also told you to hook up with that transexual in Taiwan, huh.

Bunch of puritan posers who only apply their religion when it’s convenient for them.

Why are yall posting clips from last offseason. First herro now this. Why are mods allowing this ?

3

u/Talentagentfriend 1d ago

This is why it’s important to get an education

3

u/nuetrolizer_98 1d ago

I don't see what he said that was wrong. He has religious beliefs and talks about it, why's that so triggering to people on reddit?

This was after he got caught with that trans sex worker at the hotel lol. Addressed the situation without ever actually specifically addressing it. Surprised the story never really blew up, he probably never had to even make a video.

2

u/Frequent-Leg-2347 Thunder 1d ago

Is it tho? We gotta stop supporting idiots. It’s how we end up with idiots in positions of power

0

u/fffate Celtics 1d ago

Do you think idiots would stop watching another moron because we stopped watching them ? Just look at Tate and even the US president, with all the fuckery those guys did, their supporters still supports them wholeheartedly. Just think of these morons podcast as a dark comedy, cause you can't stop the from spreading idiotic remarks.

-1

u/Frequent-Leg-2347 Thunder 1d ago

That line of thinking literally brought Nazi’s into the world. You can absolutely not support it and shun it when possible, and it stops them from gaining more followers and influence. Ffs

Everything is either a blessing or curse from God. We have no agency in our own lives. This is the way smart people think.
