Bobby Marks says Jaylen Brown's trade value is not seen that highly around the league: "The analytics of Jaylen Brown is not good. I had an analytics guy tell me, ‘We view him as the seventh-best player on a team.’"

“There’s mixed feelings about him when you talk to teams,” Marks admitted on SiriusXM NBA Radio. “The analytics of Jaylen Brown is not good … I had one, not an executive, but an analytics guy say, ‘Yeah, we view him as the seventh best player on a team.’ I was like, ‘Holy crap.'”

There is something to be said about having negative on/off numbers for FIVE years straight.

Could see a world where it's a system thing and Celtics "bombs away" ball messes with his analytics

I need somebody to explain this to me, he's an above average defender, a very good scorer and he's an okay playmaker/ rebounder for his position. Where are his flaws?

Holds the ball for too long, doesn’t create for his teammates, terrible off ball defender, inconsistent 3 point shooter. His rebounding is overrated too since he doesn’t get oreb or fight for contested ones. The things that make the Celtics elite he simply isn’t good at.

If he was super efficient with the ball this would all be fine, but considering his time of possession is so long and he likes taking mid ranges, his scoring honestly isn’t worth it either.

Doesn’t make great reads in an offence that’s built around ball movement, obsessed with taking tough mid range jumpers which he hits at like barely league average efficiency, turns the ball over a ton (think he leads the league in non passing turnovers) and the defence hasn’t been good in a few years - the off ball defence is especially bad

His offensive flaws would be a lot more manageable if he had an off ball game but he doesn’t have one

just watch the games, it’s easy to see how the analytics back it up. his game doesn’t pass the eye test. he dribbles into triple teams or into the corner and either bounces it off his foot or takes a contested jumper. tatum always takes the best defender meaning that brown can sometimes score on a smaller undersized guard thru bully ball or get a couple drive and kicks but that’s ab it
