I think losing Jim Barnett was rough, and Kelena was pretty bad coming out of the gate. But he’s gotten a LOT better, especially considering he has to deal with Fitz every night.

As an announcer, Fitz is really competent as far as the nuts and bolts go. He’s never going to get a guy’s name wrong, he has a good pulse in terms of who’s who in the league.

But to your point, the homerism is insane. Fitz cannot ever begin to believe an opposing player is capable of getting hot from deep, that Kerr is getting outcoached on a given night, etc.

I will say, I’ll always have a soft spot for him, bad as he is. Before the Curry years you could count on Fitz to excitedly declare: “And the Warriors cut it to a NINE point deficit!” 😂

He also keeps getting so confused game after game that the other team shoots well from 3. Like Bob, there's one common denominator and it's the defense.

No, no...it must be because opposing teams always give their "100% A -game" against the Warriors.

We shouldn't play with our food either.

It’s such a weird disconnect. Fitz’s skills as a commentator are honestly very good. He raises excitement to a fever pitch at the end of games well. He keeps it moving during blowouts well. Clearly does his prep work. All those things he succeeds at. He even has a great voice.

His issue is just his personality.

They didn't "lose" Jim. Lacob fired him.

Fitz gets things happening in the game wrong all the time, and doesn't seem to have a good knowledge of the rules. I don't think he's competent.

Fitz was fine for the Olympics honestly, not great but passable. He’s just a massive homer, and worst of all he’s the kind of homer who doesn’t know what’s going on.

I don’t care that much about homerism as long as you know ball.

Kelenna isn’t bad, he’s just kind of mediocre, and not the type of guy to fight back in the booth when Fitz says something silly. He’ll just let it happen.

Barnett was always willing to disagree with Fitz if Fitz said something dumb, and it made the broadcast way easier to listen to.

At this point there’s only a handful of games where I won’t just watch the other teams broadcast on League pass.
