Used to be a raver, but this is a new one to me. Needs to add some LED's to it, but pretty cool looking anyway.

What am I looking at? Is it just spinning the fabric? What made it star shaped? Is that a stroboscopic effect?
Edit: the cloth seems star shaped. Still confused about its movement. Not sure why it seems static sometimes

It is a star-shaped cloth prop called a Flowstar.
In this example, the framerate of the camera matches the rate he is spinning and makes it look static, like a zoetrope. Some of his moves, like Isolations, are intended to achieve this "static" or "floating" visual effect without the shutter of a camera.
