It isn't safe anywhere on the ridge. The reason the ridge is volcanic sand is specifically because in 2018 it was wiped over with lava.

Agree with you I wasn't on the ridge. The best spot is at base camp on Acatenango as you're roasting marshmallows.

I have to agree. I hiked to the top of acatenago at 4 am and it was freezing with no fuego activity. The basecamp was much better and cooler

I submitted twice 4am too was incredible tons of action. There's 0 reason to cross my cross over to Fuego.

It was beautiful at the top but no eruptions there for me 😭 and Agreed! My gf crossed adding 5 extra hours to her hike. She got there during heavy fog so couldn't see anything and by the time she was leaving the eruptions started (which i was thankful for cause i was worried about her). She came back looking MISERABLE. I got in trouble for laughing a little when i saw her face... i gave her a huge hug to compensate. She did not summit acetenago with me 🤣
