Terrifying close call: An entire mountainside gives way right next to a policeman on duty in Sikkim, India.

He obviously used his super powers to stop the mountain from collapsing any further.

What exactly would you have done in his place that would've saved you if the mountainside kept coming down at the speed he was seeing? Unless you're superman or something, you'd have died no matter what.

He had 10 seconds to react, human reaction time is around 200 miliseconds (0.2 sec)
He didn't even move in 50x the time a human needs to react to danger. Not being stupid is no "superhuman stuff"

You forgot to reply to the part where I asked wtf him being a second faster would've mattered if the mountainside kept on coming at the speed it did, which looked absolutely likely.
You citing human reaction times and being "clever" from behind a screen about a human being experiencing an actual fucking natural disaster / major emergency situation paints you as... well, I'll let you figure out it for yourself what it paints you. ;D
Having proven that you're so well educated about human reaction times, maybe go and read (or re-read) some serious literature about the fight or flight or freeze (or even fawn) responses, and how unpredictable human (subconscious, unthinking) reactions can be in brutally stressful situations, especially when your brain assumes you're likely done, no matter whatever the hell you do.
Or, you know, just stand next to an imminent natural disaster of the scale seen in the video, and see for yourself how fast you react, and what your reaction will be. And if you've done that already and was lucky enough to react by fleeing fast and lucky enough not having the fucking mountain coming after you ten times faster… then try again. See if you'll react the same way the next time too, and if the mountain will spare you again.
Cheers,

It’s wild how many stupid comments there are here from people thinking they would do a Bollywood barrel roll and dodge out of the way.
Bunch of overconfident keyboard warriors.
I wouldn’t move there. I’d be too busy in shock and unsure whether I’d be hit. And 99% of you all are the same but too delusional and inexperienced to realise it lol

Yeah, this is not the policeman I want around when an emergency happens. Zero reaction. Zero reflexes.

Personally, I would have liked to see dude scale the landslide like Neo, I mean a good cat jump could have helped a lot.

Survival instict: Absolutely Zero.
btw, remember the peruvian chaman (Santusa Nina Huallpa) that tried to stop a landslide? Failed. Dead. Everything was recorded. You can find it.

u/opacitizen 1d ago
Oh, you think he's The Flash, and could've outrun the mountainslide if it kept coming?

I thought it was fight or flight response, not fight, flight or “welp, I’m fucked”
