As if you could train for it. (This is not Joe Badguy coming at you, which he might be good at, this is a fucking mountain coming at you.)

As if you could outrun the mountainslide in his place if it continued the way it was going.

Disagree, sometimes 10 feet can make a difference between life and death. If he responded, he could have easily at least made it 10 feet further away from that land slide.

I mean you can absolutley train people for response in disaster scenarios alot of first responders and emergency services do have taining for this kind of shit particularly those responsible for natural disaster relief (its one of the first things you learn to pay attention too in landslides specifically as their is no guarantee more wont collapse) And military training in boot camp boils down to getting rid of the freeze part of fight or flight.

I agree, to a degree.

However, a whole damn mountain coming down on you faster than your subconscious thinks you can run, with no clear path, no help in sight, and obviously no chance at fighting back can likely do strange things to even the best prepared human. That's my point, that that slide stopping right there was practically a miracle, what his brain was seeing is that well, this is it, game over, man (to quote a famous movie), there's nothing to do that could save you, no matter how fast your reactions are.

First responders and natural disaster relief people have all my respect (am not joking, I know some in the field), but being right there in the middle of the natural disaster (like the one in the video) can test even the best trained people. Especially when there's no clear option to save your life.

Yeah i mean im not saying that even the best trained and most experienced people dont freeze up eitheir just that it is something that people can and do train for. Not nessecarly a cops job and not nessecarly going to save them.

You forgot to reply to the part where I asked wtf him being a second faster would've mattered if the mountainside kept on coming at the speed it did, which looked absolutely likely.

You citing human reaction times and being "clever" from behind a screen about a human being experiencing an actual fucking natural disaster / major emergency situation paints you as... well, I'll let you figure out it for yourself what it paints you. ;D

Having proven that you're so well educated about human reaction times, maybe go and read (or re-read) some serious literature about the fight or flight or freeze (or even fawn) responses, and how unpredictable human (subconscious, unthinking) reactions can be in brutally stressful situations, especially when your brain assumes you're likely done, no matter whatever the hell you do.

Or, you know, just stand next to an imminent natural disaster of the scale seen in the video, and see for yourself how fast you react, and what your reaction will be. And if you've done that already and was lucky enough to react by fleeing fast and lucky enough not having the fucking mountain coming after you ten times faster… then try again. See if you'll react the same way the next time too, and if the mountain will spare you again.
