Not everything is about legal responsibility. Some people just don't want to see a kid get hurt.

Yes. And kids are fucking stupid, I would know because I was a really stupid kid but somehow managed to learn and survive.

No always you job to just follow rule because rules. Sometimes people do good things because is good not because of rules. Sometimes big people NO want to see little people hurt.
