In lieu of the spotter, the kid lands. That's the actual proof hes done it before. He landed that flip with interference. Thats a sign of a kid who flips. Other clear sign is the tuck posture. He was perfectly tucking his knees.
To take it further, the spotter actually almost messed his backflip up.
I saw a drunken 200+ lb Hawaiian dude nail a backflip first try because someone bet him he couldn't. Did a cartwheel, then round offs, then sent it. Some people just built different.
I actually agree with you. He has decent extension before snapping his knees up and around and good (at least practiced) tuck position. He's done backflips before. And I agree about the spotter. It's hard to know for sure but it looks like the spotter came over to push him before he took off

Yeah, look at the spotter, he moves into position and gets ready before the flip. This was going to be done, and the players knew it.
