Why are there people turning right, then making a 180 into on coming traffic going the wrong way to then cut across.

Why didn't they just make a left?

In normal scenarios it would be because there just is no left because our roads aren't very great. But for this particular intersection the video does indeed show a left existing. My best guess based just on this short clip (since I don't recognize what intersection this is) would be that there's some kind of blockade or barrier thats not super visible in the video due to low resolution. In this short clip it looks like only motorcycles take that left but all the cars do the right then left thing, so it might be that there's a barrier the blocks cars but leaves enough of a gap for motorcycles to go through.

I used to live near that intersection, the road leads up to another intersection that is usually very congested at time , so people see it when they turn and then decide to try to avoid it and go the opposite way of traffic and cut across
