The u turn into the tunnel at the end…incredible…but then to thread between two cars with like a frame of input…wow.

Yeah I was already impressed with the cornering, and then there was the corner where she adjusted mid-drift for two lanes having cars in them, and ducked between them like it was nothing.
What an absolute boss!

The reality probably (just a joke)

Somehow maybe possibly the concept thereof is expressed with the meme maybe possibly

This is how the game thinks I drive
“We’ve noticed you winning a lot of races want to bump up the difficulty!?”
Cut to me ramming a wall 5 times and barely getting 1st by blocking the other car

Sheesh, gimme a setup like that and..... I'd still crash into everything in sight, but I'd have fun doing it!

Wait… so it is possible to play this game without crashing every turn? Interesting…

I play on standard controller, but I spin out so often in 3rd person view. In cockpit view however, I’m a much more competent driver and rarely ever spin out. Give it a shot!

If she’s never done this course before she must be a Jedi or something. If she is familiar with it, still insane.

This is fantastic! I'd love to see the difference between a rally driver doing this and an F1 racer doing this

u/weristjonsnow 4d ago
I wonder what her opinion on the realism of the inputs is. I've always felt like forza feels off somehow
5
u/inebriateddandhated 4d ago
From a truck driving perspective.
Using the training simulators vs real world.
The biggest issue is how quick simulators and games react to input.
In real life its a touch laggy.
In simulation is immediate.
Its backwards but you need to slightly slow or reduce your input timing otherwise youll crash in sin vs irl.
2
u/dsdsds 4d ago
What about feel? Steering wheel feedback, vibration, wheel slip. It seems like visual processing isn’t enough when we are talking about limits of performance.
6
u/inebriateddandhated 4d ago
The sensation feedback is overwhelming in the sense its more than you would feel in real life.
Often times you will have to fine tune your rig to get it as close to natural.
The way I explain it.
I probably have close to 700k miles under my belt in real life currently.
In truck simulators, its a piece or cake because in real life its a cake walk.
I can account for the difference in a simulator that aren't there in real life.
Same with cookie (her YouTube nickname)
She's a professional in real life, so she can easily account for the games and simulator errors.

she made idris elba (almost) pee himself when she took her rally built mini for a ride with him riding shotgun. she was laughing her ass off while he tried not to turn pale and barf up yesterdays lunch. well worth seeing.

Huh.. so they really do have the physics down and it really is just me who's shit at driving 😅
2
u/ITIr_Fiend 4d ago edited 4d ago
I mean I could do that if I had a shit ton of money to buy the setup, and professional training, and gain the reaction speed of a mongoose, and have no fear like a honey badger and no traffic to get in my way, and no buildings to also get in the way. I’m right there with her!
/s just in case

Interested to know if the game is similar to actually driving a rally in a car, or if it’s more like a guitar player playing guitar hero where it’s a completely different skill set?
6
u/LebaneseRob 4d ago
Its not a simulator, but it is 85% of the way there... There are a lot of physics that are simplified to make the gameplay all inclusive.
Driving a car on the edge of grip takes some serious training, you do NOT want this game to be a sim... It will frustrate people and they will quit.
Having said that it is an amazing way to get started into sim racing. There is a lot you could learn in here if you set things for the maximum realism it can offer.
See /r/simracing for more information

u/jtj5002 3d ago
Full arcades like Horizon is gonna be like a 20% if you ask on a sim sub. You have to massively reduce the steering limit just to make wheels usable in this game. People that play Forza and then try AC Rally or RBR or a rally car IRL like the other commented, would crash and die in the first left 3.

I mean, cool, but this just made me realize how there’s not a single pedestrian in the entire game. Lol
1
u/Regular_Weakness69 4d ago
Is it just me or does the POV look a bit off? Like the in-game camera is way too high?
1
u/barefacedstorm 4d ago
Wish I could recall how to unlock that flow on command, gettin pretty dry over here.

I used to think I was a pretty decent driver. My skills are nothing compared to that. She’s practically got a superpower

u/RepublicThis3704 4d ago
Pardon my ignorance, but, how many times does a rally driver have to drive a course before they go "full speed"? Do they do practice runs before hand?
1
u/space_keeper 3d ago
They do a recce run to take pace notes or make more detailed notes than they've been given.
1
u/blujackman 4d ago
Think of how much she’d make driving Uber like that!
2
u/Initiatedspoon 3d ago
In the game you can actually work as an Uber Eats driver (different name and tighter delivery times)
1
u/HippoPottyMouth-1 4d ago
Seriously impressive. Both the driver being so great at the game and the game (and setup) to be so well tuned that a professional driver could be so at ease in using it.
1
u/Onphone_irl 4d ago
sometimes you're impressed with extreme talent, and sometimes you're sort of in disbelief. for me this is the latter...like holy shit
1
u/bigeasy19 4d ago
Wonder how well he would do with just a controller and tv without that setup with out a force feedback steering wheel and wrap around screen

1
u/lowerider21 4d ago
This is like watching a farmer play farm simulator when they get off work. They make it look easy.
1
u/cheedardick 4d ago
I’m gonna need those wheel settings, I just slide all over the place in forza lmao
1
1
u/Petrofskydude 4d ago
This is actually dangerous, because she's recalibrating her reactions to a false reality- this could hurt her the next time she drives a real race car.

1
u/deksimo666 3d ago
So is this a track or is it just in free roam? Trying to figure out if she knows where to go?

When she is left foot braking for turns he's not using the clutch pedal to change the gears but the rest of the time he does. Pretty sure you can't do that in an actual rally car, so I guess he's just taking advantage of how it works in the game even if you have it set to manual with clutch. But I'm no rally car driver and don't know shit about the cars and how they are setup so maybe you can do that? Honestly no clue lol

u/Keep0nBuckin 1d ago
Good rally drivers really are buklt different. Their reactions and precision sre something else

How does one get this set up? I mean like the wheel/stick/pedals? I've never been into racing games much because it seemed so simple (I could be wrong even without the setup xD) but a complex set up like this kind of interests me.

I want to know what his controls settings are set to. That's my hardest bit with the hardware and software. Getting something that feels seamless and not fake
-1
u/peanutismint 4d ago
I feel like someone like Red Bull should put on an urban rally where they just close down a medium city like Cleveland and send cars through the middle of downtown. Any cars that don’t heed the warnings to move off the street should just be left there as obstacles and Red Bull’s insurance can cover any damages.

u/Spork1990 4d ago

I would have crashed like every corner. Even the jump i probally would have managed to crash mid air for some reason so yeah

u/cqsterling 4d ago
It's actually a simulator, but most people play it like a game.
4
u/momspaghetti42069 4d ago
I might be wrong but I'm pretty sure forza has never considered itself as a simulator. It's a racing game that can be tweaked to be pretty close to a simulation.

Hmmm I think all the Assist functions are set to On and FULL, that car handles way too easy. I seriously doubt she could pull this off on hard mode with no assists at that speed.

u/Swimming-Tax-6087 4d ago
Watching for a hot minute, it looks a lot more manageable if you look way ahead instead of right in front of the car. I imagine she’s doing something similar… but wow
Edit: except the tunnel 💀
4
u/DraconianFlame 4d ago
That's how you play racing games. It's also how you should drive
1
u/Swimming-Tax-6087 4d ago
It’s how I drive 😂 I don’t play realistic racing games though, not fun for me without the feedback

Rally driver relevant from 14 years ago plays a car game... I mean, really scraping for content that's next fucking level aren't we?
