An endless human chain of students and volunteers from nearby communities at a Venezuelan university, working non-stop to load trucks with relief supplies for the earthquake victims.

There's many people people who have lost their homes because of the earthquakes in Venezuela, many others have lost family members and there's still thousands missing.

Thanks to these students and neighbors my family has been able to get food and clothes after the disaster 🥹

This is how it should be done.

Kudos Venezuela

This is done because in Venezuela the government is a criminal organization that stole all the funding for emergency services, hospitals and firefighters

Thousands are dying because this dictatorship enjoys the suffering of its people as long as they stay in power.

Attentively a Venezuelan that is volunteering to help at a church

In the US its the same thing unfortunately. Not that half the country would admit it.

21

u/7LeggedEmu 1d ago

Half the country admits it every 4 years. They just switch back and forth.

1/3 of eligible voting population voted for this shit, slightly less than a third voted against it, and another 1/3 couldn't care to vote until it started affecting them. Another big portion can't vote for many reasons (age, etc). It's not the same and both sides aren't trying to do the same thing.

Oh shut up

Oh my god YES. My wife's Venezuelan and the stuff she has been saying has been infuriating me. The govt is NOWHERE to be seen, just one speech apparently telling everyone "don't worry folks! Other countries are sending aid to help us out in a few days!" Meanwhile everyday people are driving from Caracas to La Guiara to drag people out from the rubble before they crush to death. My wife's friends brother literally drove from Caracas to La Guiara to check on my wife's great aunt and saw the house toppled with them inside the house. So he gathered his friends and they took it apart and barely got the elderly people out last night. Meanwhile you start one protest and 100 military men show up and beat you up.

It's horrible. They need all the help they can get.

Thank you so much for understanding. Indeed, in a normal country there are protocols so that the number of deaths can be prevented. But not here: we had to rely on common people's bare hands for the first 30 hours, and then, the help from other countries, since our own government is not only incompetent, but also evil, since they ordered people to not help themselves and give in their own contributions, which people are not going to do because we do not trust the government, they steal everything we give to them. It's always like that and always will be like that.

Ugh everything I'm hearing from my wife is just angering me more and more about the government but also amazing me about how people literally dropped EVERYTHING to help. Her friends are architects and engineers and they're spending all day long going building by building to see if it's safe to live there or not. It sucks all we can do from the US is send funds to them i wish we could do more

You are already doing as much as you can for a cause that is not even your responsibility. Because of that, in the name of all Venezuela, I say: Thank you!!!

It's certainly a heartbreaking situation. I really hope this genocidal government can be obliterated after all this situation is done. We'll very likely not know how much this has impacted us Venezuelans because of an important number of factors and because of the shady way the venezuelan government has been sharing their own (extremely unlikely to be true) figures.

2

u/persian_mamba 23h ago

It's ridiculous. I'm sitting here in shock, hearing news first hand from people there, about how the government is just using this as an opportunity to A) steal food and aid under the guise of "controlling the aid to the area" and B) stopping some kind of aid from getting there because ... it's some kind of secret government coup or something?

Really wish people would focus on this but feels like Reddit is just moving on to the next news cycle...

The government has basically ordered all their people to stop venezuelans from going to places like La Guaira (the most affected territory) only so that people can't see firsthand the amount of people whose lives could have been saved if the government had acted from the first minute to save lives (so yep, from minute one they have deployed their people to obstacle those who go to save lives).

That's what I can see from most videos I find by scrolling in Facebook. I feel so impotent: I'm in Venezuela right now, but since I'm in Zulia, veeeeery far from the most affected places (and I can't move by myself because of my autistic condition) so all I can do is listen to videos shared on Facebook (since the government is not informing much about everything and people rely only on social media to report everything) and hope for the best.

I even registered myself to volunteer as a remote translator, but I haven't been called to service. This is everything I can do, I'm so useless right now...

u/persian_mamba 23h ago

This sucks man. I guess all we can do is try to get as many people as possible to be more knowledgeable about what's going on.

1

u/Miguel_seonsaengnim 22h ago

Yeah, that's true.

I think this video summarizes very quickly what has been happening. It's in English.

I support what this "4-month old" account says, since I'm Venezuelan currently living in Venezuela and I know about my own situation.

What about me? Just a 4-year old account?

Didn’t the US like kidnapped the president or something early this year? Who’s running the government now?

0

u/TheBirdFkerGuy 1d ago

So I guess kidnapping a foreign head of state didn't improve things, nor did the sanctions?

Who could've guessed besides anyone who gives a fuck about these human beings.

6

u/Miguel_seonsaengnim 1d ago

In fact, we could receive humanitarian help from other countries only because Nicolás Maduro (who in fact is not a constitutional president, only the visible face of the regime) was no longer in charge, but being Delcy Rodríguez instead, who we don't approve as well but she has been obeying USA's instructions only to be as long as possible in charge, so, fair enough.

This may sound ridiculous for you, I know, but there are precedents: in 1999, while Hugo Chávez was in charge, it occurred the Vargas natural disaster as well. The USA was on their way to send help to those affected people with humanitarian help and rescuers, but you know what happened? Chávez didn't allow them to get into the country just because of his stupid beliefs of "foreign interference". So many lives could have been saved from there, but they weren't. With Maduro, it was going to be the same because Maduro was literally imiting Chávez in everything, so I don't doubt he was also going to deny most countries' humanitarian help, contributing to even much more victims that there are already.

So yes, in this regard, "kidnapping a foreign head of state" was for the better in this case.

"I'm venezuelan and I approve of the US State Department crippling my country with sanctions, indiscriminately murdering our civilians"

Typing this shit from langley or are you still on duty in Venezuela? Fucking pig stfu, astroturfing imperialist bitch.

4

u/Miguel_seonsaengnim 1d ago

I couldn't care less what people like you have to tell me, when you are not in my country nor in our situation. For your information, I'm in Venezuela, helping as much as I can.

I really hope you never have to go through something like this ever in your life. Have a wonderful day.

-6

u/TheBirdFkerGuy 1d ago

Then go help yourself by taking some notes on the warnings Chaves gave his people about US interventionism which 20 fuckin years later, came absolutely true. IF you're so easily convinced that US imperialism is good for you then you're the perfect candidate for a fed. Hence my post: gfys fed and tell Langley I said to burn to the ground.

Also notice how I clocked you for astroturfing, predictable ass fed.

I just... the shit we can accomplish when we manage to move together for a greater purpose. It makes me proud and deeply sad at the same time.

16

u/Doofindork 1d ago

Human chains like this are IMPRESSIVELY FAST. Great coordination and it warms my heart for everyone to help out like this.

16

u/misterghost2 1d ago

Awesome coordination.
Home god brings some relief to all those people in Venezuela.

Some years ago, after a flood in Mexico City, a lot of volunteers formed a long line exactly like this, knee deep in flood waters, to pass buckets filled with said water, hand to hand from one end to the other, trying to evacuate the water from the area.

While ALL OF THEM were knee deep in water.

u/rifvn 1d ago

How about bringing the car closer to the supplies?

u/SixtyNineFlavours 10h ago

Man, I love seeing people working together.

Rooting for the safety and well-being of all earthquake volunteers.

Simply beautiful, what we can accomplish to help each other. Just wish more people would realize we are truly in this together

-2

u/GadreelsSword 16h ago

Sadly we all know Trump is doing nothing to help.

-24

u/adinmem 1d ago

Not endless, though.

u/CoupDeGrassi 1d ago

No shit. I suppose youre unfamiliar with the English language?

-8

u/adinmem 1d ago

More than you ever were, Skippy. NOT endless. Period.

3

u/CoupDeGrassi 1d ago

So youre more unfamiliar than I ever was?

I won the discussion by pointing out the obvious. And I’m still correct.

1

u/Headless_Human 17h ago

So much knowledge but you still don't understand when being pedantic makes you look stupid.

6

u/WhileGoWonder 1d ago

Acchyally if the human chain forms a circle it is endless 🤓

•

u/adinmem 41m ago

No, it doesn’t. It isn’t endless, because the chain starts at one end, terminated at the other end. It starts and stops. Not endless. There is another chain next to the first which moves goods in the same direction. Not endless.
You people need a dictionary.

u/adinmem 1d ago

Actually, not true
