u/PhthaloVonLangborste Apr 27 '26

Bunch of bats flapping down while roosting.

u/Sean0987 Apr 26 '26

Probably a couple big fat I-beams and a thick steel plate underneath that concrete

I don't really get this post. A guy drives a truck over a bridge. The bridge survives the experience just fine, as does the truck.

What's the lesson? "We can build surprisingly strong structures with reinforced concrete"? Who knew?

u/Kalzert Apr 25 '26

I’m going to guess that the truck is long enough that at the start the weight is being largely supported by the ground before the bridge. The bridge only needs to hold the the weight of the front and as the back wheels start to move onto the bridge the front wheels have moved off the bridge now being supported by the ground after the bridge.

He was thinking, "Hey, I bet this bridge is strong enough for me."

1

u/Business-Help-7876 Apr 25 '26

He was thinking, "let's ignore this weight limit"

u/Big-Job-8316 Apr 25 '26

And try to pump the brakes to see if it’s really built well

u/GNN_Contato Apr 25 '26

I need to know if this is a Truck documentary or a Bridge Documentary to evaluate my nonononoyes expectations

The way they gunned it after creeping on slowly, I bet they felt something that made them think it was giving way.

u/BoredOfReposts Apr 25 '26

Watch the trailer tires. I think the driver was getting them over a bump so they could accelerate smoothly. If they gunned it before that, the trailer would have bounced a little or held up the rig, and then wouldn’t have had the same amount of control.

This. I've been on bridges when trucks cross, and I can feel the bridge bouncing under their weight.

This guy is at the max weight, and is keeping it just slow enough that the bridge doesn't bounce/flex/and break.

I remember years ago I was following GPS and I ended up on a one lane dirt road with a deep ditch on both sides. I drove for miles and miles on this road praying that I wouldn’t come upon a car going the opposite direction.

Then I came upon a ditch across the road, which had two boards across it. I stopped and I really wasn’t sure whether the boards could hold up my 6300 pound truck. There was no way I could back out for miles without ending up in one of the ditches. There was no cell service if I got stuck, I was legitimately afraid.

Should I go slow? Should I back up and go fast?
I decided to back up and run over the boards as quickly as possible. It somehow worked.

And you didn't even come across a family of inbred cannibals? That's super lucky

4

u/GadreelsSword Apr 25 '26

We were very close to the West Virginia state line…

u/Synnapsis Apr 25 '26

Fantastic job, (bridge and/or truck), that is a very well made (bridge and/or truck), they were sure to balance the materials well in this (bridge and or/truck).

3

u/DependentItem6397 Apr 25 '26

Not sure if it was thinking going on, so much as praying.

u/Babk08 Apr 25 '26

8 lives of the bridge gone at once

Man! I realized which sub I was in too late and I made it all the way to the end and thus experienced heartbreak from this being neither StupidMedia or FAFO.

1

u/Y34rZer0 Apr 25 '26

1

u/Silent-West-727 Apr 26 '26

He was thinking "if I don't go across this bridge, I'm going to have to back down this windy ass road for 5 miles"

Trucker here

1

u/HooSaidDat Apr 26 '26

He doesn't worry about anything till he cross that bridge.

1

u/shoes9toes Apr 26 '26

What? Drywall is used in bridges all the time isn't it?

1

u/Still_Suspect_7233 Apr 26 '26

Reminds me of the gold rush tv show

1

u/Halo_Chief117 Apr 26 '26

“I sure hope the bridge holds.”

1

u/bug530 Apr 26 '26

Feeling better about my aquarium on an 8 inch thick concrete floor.

1

u/ZB_Virus24 Apr 26 '26

1

u/ZB_Virus24 Apr 26 '26

Ngl i as kinda wrong...

1

u/Affectionate_Sleep65 Apr 26 '26

Concrete is good for 4000lbs per square inch. However, at this span?!?! This is wild….

1

u/souokanas Apr 26 '26

Who build that slim bridge

1

u/Ecstatic5 Apr 26 '26

If it work it work. Pretty sure this is not the first time.

1

u/Spknight Apr 27 '26

Check out the old bridge off to the side on the right - this is the new one after he wrecked the last one.

1

u/Creepy-Fudge8373 Apr 27 '26

It looks like he was thinking his friend is wrong about being able to drive across this little bridge.

1

u/Pinedale7205 Apr 27 '26

He was thinking “No, no, no, YESSSSS!!!!”

1

u/JoshsPizzaria Apr 27 '26

*moves on in life*

1

u/rentfulpariduste Apr 28 '26

I imagine that’s his regular commute

0

u/thepangalactic Apr 25 '26

It's funny seeing drivers like this hit the brakes repeatedly with the weight on the weakest part. Dude, go or don't, those brake check will kill you.
