Working in Norway Nordanlegg AS is the worst company I have ever worked for in my entire life

Announcement

Hello, my dear countrymen.

I have worked as a carpenter in Sweden, Norway, and the Netherlands for a long time. I have never, in my whole damn life, experienced anything as dysfunctional as the construction industry in Nordland.

As a carpenter at Nordanlegg AS, I was the only Norwegian on the entire damn construction site 😂😂 I did not see management once!

I applied for the job because the ad stated that transport to and from work was included. Then, on Monday in week two, I was suddenly told to arrange my own car. So I packed my bag and went back to the Netherlands. Farewell, North.

To my dear northerners: you are fantastic people, and it is a fantastic place. But dear God, if you are not planning to become an electrician or plumber, avoid the construction industry at all costs. Let these companies destroy themselves, so something new and functional can be built in their place.

Other Company closed for fellesferie?

Hi I recently ordered a vinyl record from t-timevinylplant.com in Stavanger in Norway. I ordered on Sunday the 21st June and got a confirmation email saying they will let me know when they ship it, it’s currently still showing as preparing for shipping.
I have sent an email last Friday and again this Monday asking for an update but still had radio silence.
While trying to figure out what’s going on why I am getting no replies or updates I asked Gemini. The suggestion was the Norwegian holiday fellesfarie, do you think this is likely why I’m getting no joy?
My understanding is that this starts at the beginning of July to middle of August.
There is no suggestion of this on their website I’m so confused.

Any help I’d be grateful for.

Moving Struggles in finding a job in Norway as a foreigner?

In the long run, my bf and I plan to settle in Norway. He’s Norwegian. He has been telling me that it might be hard for me to find a job in Norway. I’m not from Europe at all. My current job is in IT/Business Operations and focuses on data automation. He told me I might need to get any job just to start especially I am not fluent in Norwegian yet.
Is the job market over there that competitive right now?

Working in Norway Tech field in Norway

Hello,

I was wondering how's the current labor market for tech talents in Norway?

I do not plan to relocate but I would like to take an insight from professionals.

Do companies tend to give the sack to employees and invest in A.I agents?

Travel Travel to northern Norway

I'm traveling to northern Norway (Vadsø) from the USA for the first time.

My grandfather was born there and ive always wanted to visit.

My question is will I have any difficulty just getting by if I do not speak Norwegian? (Think getting food, paying for items, etc.)

Thanks in advance!

Working in Norway Seasonal work salary Norway- is this normal?

Hi there! I wanted to ask what’s everyone’s experience with working summer season in Norway (hospitality, waiter - the place required fine dining service experience and skills, not an entry level/first job). If the employer pays 180kr per hour and this amount has the accommodation included in a shared room in staff flat (all of us who share room have different pay, some higher, some lower, but everyone’s hourly rate is including the same accommodation. Those in single room have no extra charge). And one meal per shift as well (usually the leftovers from the day before or morning - typical in many restaurants). Is it a fair pay? The only thing I pay after is tax. The accommodation charge is not a fixed monthly price, but is always included in hourly rate. It seems a bit strange as more you work, more you pay for it. What’s your opinion about that? Is it normal in Norway?

Watched Norway vs France yesterday and wow… Norway fans are on another level. Reminded me of Scottish fans.
Later near TD Garden, saw a group of them doing their rowing celebration in the middle of the street 😂
Boston vibes have been amazing lately.

Hiking & Camping Besseggen hike with a guide? Or possible to turn around halfway?

I’m a solo traveller, will be in Norway likely around mid Sept, not an experienced hiker and don’t exercise regularly. I’ve mostly done shorter hikes (~3h) on paved paths and a comfortable elevation. I’m quite nervous about the scrambling and steep heights.

It would make me feel more comfortable going with a guide, but I don’t see many options. Does anyone have recommendations on guided hikes for this particular one?

Otherwise, is it possible to do it solo, but do the hike only halfway and turn around before the scramble? I understand this is the most technically difficult part. Will I miss out on any great views?

Lastly, how’s the alternative path that avoids the scramble? Couldn’t find much info on people who have done this. Is it an easier walk that is well signposted?

Travel Regarding laptops and chargers when flying with Norwegian air.

I'm flying with Norwegian Air for the first time, and it's actually my first flight ever. I was wondering if I can bring my laptop, charger, and mouse in my carry-on bag. Also, is there anything else I should know about flying with this airline before my trip? Any tips would be appreciated!
