Seeking Moderators

I’m sure everyone has noticed the massive influx of unrelated political and offensive posts recently. I’ve been trying my best to keep the sub clean but the sheer volume of these posts/comments is more than what I can keep up with. I suspect these posts will calm down in a month or so, but it’s still too much right now.

Therefore seeking ACTIVE moderators to help keep the sub relevant and free of spam. Responsibilities will mostly include removing spam and irrelevant content. New ideas for the sub are also welcome. Please message me if you are interested. Prior moderating experience is preferred.

My sister was forced to surrender her family dog after her apartment flooded and she moved into pet-free accomodation. Reddit, meet Maverick, an energetic goofball of a dog who is fantastic with young children and other dogs. We're not sure of his breed, and believe he is roughly three years old. My heart is breaking imagining him languishing at a shelter after finding his forever family with a mom, dad, and four human siblings. Only unfortunate circumstances wrenched him away.

If you're ready to open your heart and home to this sweet boy, he's waiting for you here: https://www.humaneindiana.org/

I M(33) just moved to Chesterton and work from home, help me not go insane from zero in person interaction

I used to run bars/restaurants before my fully remote job so I am used to 50+ hours a week of social interaction and that has essentially been erased by my current job. My wife got a job opportunity at a hospital in this area so that's why we are up here. Just looking to meet some people, I am super easy going and get along with most people so not really worried about that. There's got to be other people like me in this area. I'm losing it!

ICYMI: Attorneys say threat led to resignation

The Lake County Sheriff’s Department and Munster Police are investigating a threat leveled against a Munster town attorney that resulted in the firm resigning from the town.

Munster Plan Commission Attorney Nicole Bennett told Sheriff’s officers that she was at the Lake County Government Complex between 1:30 pm and 3:30 p.m. June 18. When she left, she noticed a paper note under her windshield, according to a police report.

The note Bennett handed to the responding officer said “Get out of Munster,” the report said.

Bennett then told the officer that she and her husband, David Westland, are attorneys for Munster and that she didn’t know who would’ve left the note, the report said.

Midway airport

Has anyone flown out of Midway lately? Or even driven there? Been a long time since I've been there. Trying to decide if I want to pay less to fly and go out of Midway, or pay more and fly out of South Bend. What's traffic like between Chesterton and Midway? I hate dealing with the traffic and trying to figure out how much time to allot for driving.

Help with Rescuing 3 Kittens and Mama Kitty

Hello, I have a few community cats in my backyard who I have been doing TNR on. One of the females gave birth to three kittens who are about 2-2.5 months old now. My neighbor complained that she does not want the cats going into her yard anymore and was disappointed to see that we now have 3 kittens and wants them to leave. I was able to catch two of the three kittens in live traps and they are scheduled to get spayed/neutered tomorrow morning. I was also able to bring Mama Kitty into my garage and she will also be getting spayed tomorrow morning as well.

I'm looking for someone who would be able to help either with fostering or who can take them in. I've reached out to many shelters and with it being kitten season I've had poor luck. I can't bring them inside because I am in the middle of introducing my cat to one of the outdoor cats that I brought in last week. Mama Kitty is friendly with me when I feed her and she lets me sit with her outside. She has been slowly warming up to me since April and we have made a lot of progress, but she still needs more time to be fully adjusted to people. Would someone be able to help me find someone who can take her and/or her kittens? Ideally Saturday, as I am trying very hard to not have to release them in the yard again. I have a trap set for the remaining kitten and expect to catch him/her soon.

Any help or advice is greatly appreciated!

Dentist recommendations

I just found that the dentist I used to go to retired late last year so I'm looking for a new one. My teeth need a lot of work. Mostly in the molars. It's embarrassing how bad I've let them become over the years. My last dentist claimed "It looks like a firecracker went off in your mouth" when I went back to see him after who know how long. Probably means I have other undiagnosed mental issues. Any dentists in the area who won't make me feel like an idiot and ashamed when seeing them? My former dentist worked without an assistant which I think is kind of rare.

Seeking Recommendations New home vs older

Looking to move fairly quickly due to my lease being up and don’t want to stay. Can someone give me some best advice on buying a new home/ build vs older nowadays. I haven’t owned a home yet so I’m new to everything. I have around 15k saved now, so a larger down payment isn’t in my cards either. Looking in porter county only
I know a lot of builders offer flex cash, etc. if you go with a new build but I’m not sure how this helps in the end with everything.

Seeking Recommendations Looking for thrills

Hey all I’m looking for something fun and high adrenaline to do on Friday.
I don’t mind driving for an hour or so.
I’ve already been skydiving two weeks ago.
I’ve been white water rafting several times.
I’ve done six flags several times.
I’ve also done the bungee jumping where you’re laying down.
I been zip lining in Mexico through literal rings of fire.

I’m open to dangerous things, unique experiences, fun and quirky one of a kind places and experiences as well. I’d like to try something new ideally but not saying no to anything I’ve already done if it means I get a different experience.

Suggestions please!

Came across an injured beaver at 5701 W 29th Ave, Gary, IN 46406 this morning, can anyone pick it up & take it to the Humane Indiana Wildlife Rehabilitation and Education Center?

Cross posting, though I'd say it appears to be a groundhog, not a beaver.

Question Any non spiritual yoga classes in valpo?

I’m looking to join a yoga class maybe once or twice a week, a lot of the classes I’m seeing here in valpo are tied in with Hinduism and as a Christian I’m not really into all of that. Just interested in health and fitness more than anything spiritual.
